I haven’t owned a PlayStation for about 5 years, and recently the account got hacked.
I changed the password, but the person who hacked the account enabled two factor authentication.
I contacted Sony and was told that since they couldn’t verify that the account was mine, they could not remove two factor authentication. I want to remove the account from my bungie.net account but since I cannot login to the PlayStation account, I don’t have any way to do this.
Unfortunately the only way to remove an account is by being able to log in during the unlinking process. If you have tried working with Sony to recover it there isn’t much that can be done.
Alternatively you could use a new Bungie profile and leave that account linked to the old one. If you choose this method please know that any redeemed items such as codes for emblems etc will remain on the Bungie profile they were redeemed on. If the inaccessible account is the only remaining account on that profile, there is no way to log back in and relink accounts. It may be worth it to leave another authentication method tied to the account if you choose this method.
