Purchased a new PS4 copy of Destiny: The Taken King Legendary Edition on 11-23-18 from Kohl's and the downloadable content (DLC) code inside has been expired for over a year (valid 9-15-15 to 9-15-17). Kohl's cannot replace the product with a working DLC code because there are no working DLC codes left to provide -- they've all expired due to Bungie setting an expiration date of 9-15-17. This means that the Destiny product, a brand new and unopened copy, is rendered defective upon consumer purchase. Nowhere on the packaging of this product is there a disclaimer or notice that the product expires at a definite date. Seeing as this expiration and product design is Bungie/Activision's doing, the deceptive marketing is effectively a form of fraud, which is disappointing to say the least. I called Sony support and they confirmed that the DLC code was unused but expired on 11-2-18. Since it is a third party code (managed through Bungie/Activision), it is not in Sony's responsibility to replace the code. Upon looking into Bungie/Activision for support, multiple Activision cases conclude that Bungie is explicitly responsible for the handling of these DLC codes. Therefore, these codes are handled and replaced through Bungie.
