About Exotics (PLEASE READ)

Okay, so this is my first time posting in the Bungie.net forums, so I want to make something clear. I want Bungie to see this. I want PEOPLE to see this and make a discussion about the possible future of Destiny. Bungie said in their ViDoc (Out of the Shadows) that there would be two parties that decide the future of Destiny - Bungie and the playerbase. With that said, I'd like to make a discussion regarding the known issue of Exotic Hand Cannon Fatigue. There's currently a lot of Exotics in Destiny 2, and I'll give you the numbers of how many weapon types there are. Exotics (sorted by quantity of weapon type.) Hand Cannons - 8 Hand Cannons, with a confirmed 9th coming in Shadowkeep. Fusions, & Linear Fusions - 6 total, 3 Linears, 3 standard (if you can call Jotunn 'standard.') Shotguns - 5 (Counting Cerberus+1 because it's basically a full-auto shotgun.) Pulse Rifles - 4 including Bad Juju. Auto Rifles - 4 (counting Cerberus+1 as an Auto Rifle AND a Shotgun.) Scout Rifles - 4 Sniper Rifles - 4 Grenade Launchers - 4 Trace Rifles - 3, with a fourth confirmed for Shadowkeep. Bows - 3, 1 kinetic, and 2 Energy. Rocket Launchers - 3 Submachine Guns - 3 Sidearms - 1 (literally just Rat King.) Machine Guns - 1, with another confirmed for Shadowkeep. Evidently, there's a lot of Hand Cannons, and some of the community is tired of it. There's a lot. So, I'm here to bring a discussion to mind that there should be other exotics. Some people in other forums have talked about ideas for Pinnacle weapons and Exotics (check [url=https://commons.ishtar-collective.net/c/community-creations]here[/url].) The great community in the link above (Ishtar Commons, a forum of the team from Ishtar Collective) have made some great weapon ideas, ranging from [url=https://commons.ishtar-collective.net/t/into-the-light-exotic-machine-gun-idea/2871/8]God-Slaying Machine Guns[/url] to [url=https://commons.ishtar-collective.net/t/unstoppable-force-exotic-shotgun-idea/2908]Unstoppable Forces[/url] and [url=https://commons.ishtar-collective.net/t/immovable-objects-oh-no/2914]Immovable Objects[/url]. So I want to bring a discussion to Bungie. To a place they will find it and listen. To their front door. I want the community to coordinate with Bungo to come up with ideas for weapons that [i]could[/i] be added in future DLC and updates.

  • Here's a cool concept I thought of: Name: Glasswing Weapon Type: Shotgun Damage: Arc Ammo: Special Magazine: 5 Reserves: 18 RPM: 140 Exotic Perk: Survival Instinct -- Holding reload converts the shells into slugs, firing a single high-powered shot. Rate of Fire Reduced to 90 while firing slugs. Perk 1: Smallbore Barrel Perk 2: Steady Rounds Intrinsic Perk: Winged Burst -- Shells fired from this weapon launch pellets at a wide-angle horizontal spread. Enemies hit by burst are knocked backwards. Perk 3: Full Auto Trigger System Lore: I haven't gone so far as to write detailed lore, but it would be a weapon based on the Black Armory story, and act as a sister to Izanagi's Burden. The Glasswing is a butterfly (symbol of house Meyrin, which Ada belongs to) that uses camouflage as a means to survive. The weapon is designed with survival as a theme--the exotic/intrinsic perk combo allows you to clear waves of light adds with the horizontal burst, or focus on damaging a single major/boss with the slug. It would be balanced as 1.) You have to take time to switch between modes, 2.) It would only be useful in Crucible in slug-mode, but would not out-range a proc'd Chaperone, and 3.) Can not "overcharge" its damage by itself, as it has no intrinsic damage boosting perk. This weapon is designed as a "Jack of All Trades, Master of None".

  • As long as I get Hawkmoon back, then I will be fine with there never being another exotic hand cannon released in d2 again.

        • Lol I was about to correct you and say there is only 3 scout rifles, but I forgot Skyburner's existed [spoiler]Maybe that should be a hint bungie...[/spoiler]

        • The thing that I don’t like is that they don’t feel worth it half the time anymore. Not powerful, just unique, but not in a way that makes it worth it. The pinnacles are kind of replacing them in a way. I used to always prefer a heavy exotic for boss DPS, but they either nerf things or now I just use Wendigo because it can do more damage if used properly. My preferred weapon loadouts(on the off chance some random pursuit isn’t dictating it for me😑) are now almost exclusively with no exotics. It doesn’t make sense to me.

        • Now I get there is a surplus of handcannons but you do realize you listed off more weapons that arent hand cannons right? Yes it is probably annoying to people since that is all we have gotten the past few (minis truth and bad juju and outbreak perfected which no one seems to acknowledge exist.) Yes there is a surplus but it hasnt just been hand cannons. I understand the frustration but to say they only give hand cannons is bull. There were 3 hand cannons, Lumina, Thorn and last word. There were also 3 non hand cannons, Outbreak, Truth and Badjuju.

          • I will present to you a concept I made today for a new shotgun. This is to be an example. This idea is based off the Super Shotgun from DOOM. It is only an example, and Bungo doesn't have to add it. Would be badass if they did, though. Weapon name: [b] [i]'Till It Dies[/i] [/b] Weapon type: Shotgun, Kinetic. Rarity: Exotic Stats: Impact: 100 (emoji) Range: 20-30* Stability: 10* Handling: 80* Reload: 60* RoF: 95 or 100 Magazine: 2* Aim Assist: 70 Recoil Dir.: 100 Zoom: 10 Perks: Perk 1: [b] [i]Scourge of Darkness[/i] [/b] - Shoot two high-impact shotgun shells at once. Deals extra damage to powerful enemies and bosses, but consumes twice the ammo. Perk 2: Smoothbore - increases range, but also pellet spread. Perk 3: Tactical Mag - This magazine has multiple tactical improvements. Perk 4: [b] [i]Bloodied Metal[/i] [/b] - Hitting a single enemy with every pellet from this weapon increases your melee damage for a short time. Hitting an Enemy with your melee reloads this weapon from reserves and grants bonus damage and range for a short time. (Melee DMG increase - 100%. Weapon DMG increase - 100% Weapon range increase - 20%) Perk 5: [b] [i]Fury of the Chosen[/i] [/b] - Rapid hits on a single target weaken that target and buff other users of [b] [i]'Till It Dies[/i] [/b]. Lore: He didn't realize what happened at first. One moment, his head was about to be taken off by the Kell, and the next? The next moment, the Kell was lying on its back, coughing as it laid on the ship's deck. He looked up at his saviour - a massive Titan, coated from head to toe in a mighty armor that bore hundreds of thousands if not millions of scratches, dings, dents, and scars. It was not new to the battlefield. It was not accustomed to war. The Titan looked like it had been fighting the Darkness long before even the Traveler. The man stood and bowed to his armored saviour, thanking him for the gracious assistance. The Titan barely acknowledged his existence with a minor nod. The man watched as the Titan strode over to the Kell, leveling a shotgun at its face. The shotgun was battle-scarred as well - the metal stained with blood both wet and dried. The wooden handle of the gun was clutched firmly in the Titan's hands as he spoke to the Kell in a voice that was only drowned out by the sound of the shotgun. "You are of the House of Devils, aren't you? Then you know well the fury of Demons. You are rage. Brutal. Without mercy. But we - " The man flinched as two others appeared from their transmats - a Hunter and a Warlock, both battle worn and scarred - each bearing a shotgun identical to the Titan's. They approached the Kell, and leveled their own shotguns at it. "We will be worse." They said in unison. The Hunter shot first - the force of the gun ripping the Kell's leg off. The wound was anything but clean. The Warlock followed with their blast - cleaving the Kell's lower left arm from it's body. The Titan delivered the final blow - destroying the Kell by obliterating its head. Ether was spewn everywhere. The man stood in a frozen fear. He dared not to move. He knew what the Titan had easily accomplished in a single blow. He didn't want to know what all three could do to him. For they could rip and tear until he was no more. ----------------- So that's an example, and an idea. You can use the line break above to designate where lore (if you have any) ends, and where afterwords begin.
