This could be a cool idea. I used to play a browser game called Dead Frontier that had a similar system. Farther you went. The better stuff you could find. But if you died then youd lose what you grabbed. Made it super intense being deep into the map and having to get back. Almost impossible to do by yourself, and it was a blast. Only stopped playing because pay to win took over.
