1) Make GROUPS Great Again! No really. Give GROUPS a reason to be. The whole #Clan setup is boring and broken, and does not induce or promote Group discussions. Reinstate the B.old version of Groups, in it's entirety. Groups help Clans interact and grow much better. I know you know what I'm talking about. 2) Give us a report option for miss posted and intentionally miss posted threads in the wrong forums. That way the ninjas and mentors could see them more readily and move them accordingly, since most who miss post never make any attempt to change the forum tag and move the thread themselves. 3) Make sticky threads that will stay at the top of each forum telling people what types of threads are meant for that forum. It would help with the prior recommendation. The B.next system basically made #Community a worthless forum section, and why it was scrapped. Had these changes and proper enforcement thereof been in place, it likely would still be a hub of activity. 4) Change the passive, current CoC to Foman's thread from HFCS on B.net rules. Not as a link that is effectively overlooked like it currently is. The CoC from the past several years is meaningless, vague and basically enforces nothing. So many changes that went into making B.next have been removed over time because they broke B.net. It's good to see more of the old format reinstated, but there still needs to be more structure to help create a more cohesive Community as there was before. 5) Bring back Forum Member Bars Think about it. What made B.net so cool in the past? Building relationships with others here based on interaction because of the game Bungie made. Also when Bungie peeps were more active on the forums here (NOT Twitter or any other off sites) would come out and discuss stuff with the Community.

  • Killer points. I agree on all fronts. I personally think the CoC should have more teeth to it as you said. I love Foman's breakdown and think it helps illustrate the type of community Bungie wants to nurture.

  • I try. I was going to add a couple more things, but I see several others who have covered the other concerns.

Yeah, there are a lot of good ideas floating around here, though not sure how practical they all would be.

  • Groups definitely could use a rework/overhaul, a more visible description of each subforum would be great, and title bars would be a useful and fun addition to bring back. All for those 3 for sure.

  • As a ninja, I would love to know your opinion on #4.

  • What exactly do you want to see happen with the CoC? Are you mainly concerned that the current CoC page is just too vague? I think the super short simplified version that is linked currently serves new members well. A wall of text is going to be ignored far faster than a few short lines. Most people having a general idea of the rules > a few people knowing all the rules. Plus, the ones that truly want to know more have access to Foman's post in a link at the bottom.
If this isn't at all what you meant, apologies, I'm working long hours and need more sleep this week haha. Feel free to elaborate if that's the case!
Most people having a general idea of the rules > a few people knowing all the rules. Plus, the ones that truly want to know more have access to Foman's post in a link at the bottom.
Do you remember Duardo's sticky thread from the B.old forums of rules and conduct? It was perfect. Black and white, straight forward, said exactly what the guidelines and boundaries were so no one could ever really question 'why was I banned' or 'is this a line I should cross'. Rarely was the ever a miss placed thread in the wrong forum. The current CoC is absolutely vacant of any such directives (imo of course). It does not say anything about the 'Stuff that sucks' #1, 2, 3, and 7 that happen around here a lot more often than not, and never seem to get too much disciplinary action to the point that certain users have no regard for anyone. It's basically a pablum list saying 'yeah, like you shouldn't do this or whatever.....' It has no teeth. Foman's break down of that list calls out everything in specific detail, and doesn't leave any question of where the boundaries that you guys operate within by the mandates given to you. Even the format in which he posted it alleviates that 'Wall of Text' feeling, for it keeps the overall list condensed. Once you open the spoilers to see the contents, you don't realize that you read a wall, because it did not feel like one. It's nothing like the 3 page list you never read like Xbox's rules or anything. Finding or even knowing Foman's list exists is not that easy, and appears to be merely a footnote. If they just replaced the current CoC with his post it would seem to make more sense. Not that everyone here reads it anyhow, but that's why I recommend having sticky threads recommissioned at the top of every forum list telling everyone right at the start what is ok, not, and which forum it belongs in. If this would have been done and governed a long time ago I believe it would have helped keep things here (throughout B.net) more civil, and #Community would have been saved. As it was, #Community became the trash heap of 'everything' and was never actually fulfill it's original purpose as it was before.

  • #Community was 90% of my activity before the site updates and I completely agree with your opinions on that. It hadn't been the same for some time. As far as the CoC I still feel it serves it's purpose well as-is, and I believe the suggestion of headers / pinned threads on each forum would alleviate a lot of problems. I definitely wouldn't mind the link to Foman's thread being highlighted a little more maybe just through so more visible formatting though!

  •
#Community was 90% of my activity before the site updates
For me it was between that and TWP. Now it's almost entirely #Offtopic for TWP is more active on FB than here.

  • Oh yeah when I said 90% I meant 90% of my time in the public forums. Groups were always a huge chunk of my time here as well.
