Hey all,
Pinning this to the Destiny 2 forum, as I'm currently looking through some feedback on our forums and structure. I recently did a quick tweet asking players who may not visit the forums here on Bungie.net some questions, as I'd love to make this place more appealing for the broad community. Now, I'm looking for feedback from those who are on here more frequently, namely you!
This isn't a question of what we can do better in terms of making in-game changes to Destiny 2. My goals here are to get some thoughts from you on the current state of our forums. If you could answer the following, it'd be much appreciated.
• What do you find most important to your browsing experience?
• Do you find yourself frequently engaging with forums, or more often browsing associated media/group messaging apps for information/discussion? (Think Twitter, Discord, Youtube, etc)
• What changes would you like to see that would make the Bungie.net forums a more welcoming place for community engagement?
Keep a tighter leash on your forum ninjas. I’ve seen far too many of them blatantly abuse their “power” in the past.

The removal of sub-forums is something that I disliked. I frequent the lore section, but it’s mostly just fan-made stories. While I respect the creativity of our community writers, I’d prefer it if they had their own location to swap stories. Discussing the lore of the Destiny universe, discussing theories, and exploring potential future story points is what I imagine the Lore section should be.

Removing the gameplay requirement for Offtopic would be nice. I still get flashbacks from... you know
The Purge...
-
Also, ban “a broken record” (watch me get ninja’d)... He legit spams the forum with the same message repeatedly every single day, which is by all measure a “disruption” of the forum by your own rules.

I would love to see more community input in sandbox changes. Create a topic about (much needed) exotic reworks and ask the community what they want for changes. It is a small thing, but i think it would draw a lot of good folks back to the forums. Personally, I really enjoy reading fanmade subclasses and exotics and really miss them to Spike up the forums.

• What do you find most important to your browsing experience? Ease of seeing newest comments first • Do you find yourself frequently engaging with forums, or more often browsing associated media/group messaging apps for information/discussion? (Think Twitter, Discord, Youtube, etc) I do, I engage with the forums on a daily basis as well as youtube. • What changes would you like to see that would make the Bungie.net forums a more welcoming place for community engagement? Tighter leash on ninjas, and post twitter posts that you post here as well. It some times feels like the forums are forgotten in lieu of twitter and the like.

When I click on "Bungie Replied" in a forum topic it'd be nice to be taken directly to that Mod/Ninja's reply. I sort of remember that working before but now I can't remember, or, it could have been another forum. The most important thing for me on a forum, this forum, is having regular interaction with the Mods, Ninja's, hell, even dev's, etc. There was a time where interaction directly with Bungie on this forum was in a good state. I see that less and less now. It could be just me, but I like direct interaction with Bungie on topics that players are really interested in, and not to just pop on and say, "we acknowledge your concern and are looking into it". I'm involved in forums for all the games I'm currently playing. I typically don't use other social media for game info, or at least I try not to. Early on with you guys I found it kind of disheartening that you responded more on Twitter, IG, etc., than right here on your own forum. I'm seeing that happen with other forums as well and its not a good look. What would make this forum a more welcoming place would be Bungie's interaction, or more of it, here. I don't care if you post to other social media sites, but since this is "your" forum, seeing your folks interact on it is always a welcome thing. One improvement I've noticed is that people seem to be less toxic than they were in previous years. Either that or the mods are deleting content like mad. In my case it was a relief to see you finally break free from Activision and seeing the future roadmap made me genuinely happy and excited for the game again. I'm not gunna lie, I had deleted the game off my Xbox HDD back in April due to boredom and what I envisioned to be a bad future. That's all changed. I'd love to hear you talk about it more on the forums like you did in the live stream from awhile back.

Getting to replies could use some improvement. I actually roll my eyes back when I see
*more than 1 person* replied to your comment
Because I'll only see the most recent reply and then I'll have to dig through the ENTIRE thread to see the others.

What do you find most important to your browsing experience? - Convenience and easy to search existing posts - Search should have useful filters with some kind of dropdown or checkboxes: i.s) Platform: PS4, XBOX, PC and so on.... Do you find yourself frequently engaging with forums - I do come frequently to see if there are new interesting updates or everyone's posts - I also come frequently to see how Bungie is listening to the Forum's feedback which rarely rarely happened. What changes would you like to see that would make the Bungie.net forums a more welcoming place for community engagement? - Search should have useful filters with some kind of dropdown or checkboxes: i.s) Platform: PS4, XBOX, PC and so on.... - Clan Recruitment should have separate spaces for each platform. - A easy way to distinguish on which platform 'this' user is playing on.

Honestly, the old forum was best. When rules where strictly enforced and mods had power to ban people. It made people actually think of their posts instead of making whatever came into their heads. It was fun the see a political discussion teeter on the edge and see a mod respond saying that their watching it closely. After the new forums came the mods lost a lot of their power so it was just a free for all of shit posts without any rules. Sure, you guys said to use the tools that you provided to see what we wanted to see but you can't expect us to go through every shitpost, report or hide it just to find what we want to see.

I find most important that posts not be censored or hidden by being moved to #feedback I generally only engage with people about Destiny on this forum I would like to see more interaction from Bungie on this forum (not including moving threads to #feedback or shutting down threads proving which guardians are cheating)

Oh yeah, and whatever Bungie do, stop lying to the playerbase. Just be honest if there was a screw up, instead of dissembling and attempting to hide it. People are much more likely to trust honest game devs who own up to their own mistakes, instead of one that hides behind corporatespeak and spin to evade accountability and responsibility.
