Can we take a moment to say how awesome the new crucible pinnacle weapon 'The Revoker' quest is ?
For someone who has consistently avoided competitive for a long time I finally had the drive to chase this gun. I am always of the view that no game mode should ever punish me for playing it. Loosing streaks and bad match made teams leading to loosing streaks are why I always feared to invest time into this.
And here we have this quest, daunting too, 300 sniper rifle kills, 50 precision head shots and 3500 glory. For someone who has never ever used a sniper rifle before I took it upon myself to face this challenge.
I got into Iron Banner and wanted to try out the new Beloved sniper I got from the Menagerie. It has no distractions and box breathing and soon I realized that all along I have been missing the opportunity to play this game in such a different way. I am titan at heart I always rush in head on but with the sniper I had to lay back and work my shots. Some matches were awesome, I could land consistent shots and some were bad with me only getting a few kills in.
The biggest incentive for this ? I will not lose progress over what I have worked for. If i win one comp match over the last 5 matches I will still make progress. A very slow progress but one that is a boon for many solo players. I am now done with my sniper kills and head shots and am slowly chipping away at that 3500.
Hats off bungie. Thank you for making this one small change that will earn me my first pinnacle weapon ever.
A Big thank you
- An average crucible solo player :)

I ground it out and the gun is poor. Beloved is far better. So I hit a headshot and get zero reward? Then get rewarded for missing my shots? Poorly thought out gun. Handle needs a buff aswell and if I kill somebody with a headshot I want 2 bullets refunded. In crucible you start with 2 bullets in gun which is pathetic!

Dabにより編集済み: 6/26/2019 7:19:15 AMIt's too bad that the Revoker sucks compared to Beloved or Bite Of The Fox. It's quite unfortunate, really.

I'm glad you had a chance to compete in Comp. I was hoping this quest would do exactly that, get some people that arent normally competitive players to get their feet wet in Comp. The Sniper is an excellent entry level pinnacle for Comp. Some tips if you can use them to maybe get Recluse or Mountain Top. Go into private matches to learn names of map locations, good for when you play in a team. That can help with map knowledge and then you can also practice jumps and how to travel around the map. Playing in the mornings can be easier than in the evenings. Using meta weapons and a strong offensive super definitely helps. If you cant find good people in LFG to play with, its probably because their skill level is better than yours (no offense meant), I also run into this issue. I have an approximate 1.2 KD and 1.7 KDA. I try to use solo matchmaking help me find friends. If you play a match and you like one or two people you played with, send them a "GG" good game, and ask if they would like to party up and play together. Why I think this is a good idea, Bungie matched you up with them, they probably have a similar skill level and are in a similar spot in grinding glory. Learn strategies for "Countdown", usually kill an enemy and rush the survivors. Don't arm the bomb unless you kill one of theirs first. Practice in Rumble or QP new weapons and supers Practice in Rumble your one on one skills. If you cant kill one person by yourself, it will be much harder for you to help out your team.. Probably common knowledge, If you are the only one with a super, that can be a great time to use yours. No one around to counter you easily with a super of their own. Also you start generating orbs for your team mates so they can get their supers going. Try to use the bonus points to your advantage. You just need to play 3 games a week to get 120-160 points a week. 12 weeks at 120 points is 1440. That is 2/3 of the points that you need. Masterwork armor for more defense while in super form

Personally i hate it. Reason being theres no real reason to grind pvp other than pinnacle weapons. So making it easier to get reduces the grind in comp and thusly good pvp players have nothing to go for. Im literally average and am only missing mountaintop. I genuinely feel for the actually good pvp players

It’s well worth it, I love the gun sooo much and doing crazy jump shots and no scopes with it!

It felt to me like what you would give someone new to sniping to use to help them get better at it.. For pro snipers out there it just isnt worth it.. Specially when beloved is available with good perks. I think they got lazy with Revoker
The biggest incentive for this ? I will not loose progress over what I have worked for.
Which is exactly why it was stupid to tie the pinnacle weapons to comp points that can be lost to begin with. I'm glad Bungie finally changed it, & they should rework the other pinnacles as well.

Abyssにより編集済み: 6/25/2019 4:48:16 PMIron banner sniping was actually quite fun, I was able to cap points just as effectively as i usually would to boot, nothing like getting a group of people standing on a point at the beginning of the map with a chaining pulse nade ( top tree storm caller ) wiped a good chunk of their team, capped the point, got a power play and sniped during the hunt ( i had plenty of special amo after the nade toss mind you). but i played so much iron banner this week i was able to get through my warlock set and partly through my Titan set (grenade step) But all i need now is the 3500 glory, and then the gun is mine, best part is that my first iron banner set for my warlock all dropped with enhanced sniper perks, like ALL of them, even got some reserves out of it as well as a nice set of boots with traction. it may have been grindy but because i was using a sniper rifle for a good chunk of it i was having a serious blast, as nothing has made me more satisfied in pvp then sniping.

Yeah, thanks for not playing the objective while your team tries to capture points. Another useless sniper post.

Too bad the Revoker is Meh. Yes, getting a missed shot back is nice and all but It really doesn’t feel like a pinnacle weapon. It just feels too clunky. I feel like I’m running around with an oblong brick in my hands. They need to either need to add QuickDraw or take away Snapshot and replace it with QuickDraw. The reason for this is QD adds like 40 Handling intrinsically. As it is right now it just feels like a regular legendary Aggressive Sniper.

Cheers to you, bro. I'm happy for you, and I agree that this was a good incentive for solo players.

On the last day of Season 6 (took me about 5 days), I finished the 2100 run for Mountaintop and Recluse. This season, I've done the sniper kills part of Revoked in QP. I jumped into Comp to start accruing points for that part of the "quest". I jumped straight back out again. Fecking awful game modes, shitty 4v4, crappy netcode - all things I'm sick of fighting for a lousy gaming experience.
-
Got to fabled and I still need 1k points -_- the quest really should be finished when you reach fabled or 3500 total points for the bots who can’t get their.
-
Oppress0rにより編集済み: 6/25/2019 11:49:46 AMIf you do the the quest in comp you only need 150 sniper kills and 25 precision. It doesn't say it in the quest for some reason.

Love this new pinnacle idea, buuut.....it's not really that much to use when you have a curated snipers like bite of the fox or something. They could've add few more stats to it but anyway I'm using it fine and dandy with The Recluse
