License sharing is a console feature and not a Bungie or Destiny 1/2 feature, and as such, Bungie doesn't offer direct customer support for it. That being said, you can try opening Desitny 2's Manage Game and Add-on menu and download the DLC unlocks while logged into your son's account. This normally fixes the issue you're having. It should be noted that the standard license sharing mechanic still applies, so he can only access the content when either on the same console your account is logged in to, or on your home console (whether or not you're logged into it). If you have further issues concerning the license sharing, you'll need to contact Microsoft. Only the account that owns the content is guaranteed to have access to the licenses, so any sub/sharing accounts are secondary and thus using a license sharing feature.

  • Funny...I spent over an hour on support with Microsoft and they finally told me DLC sharing was a function of the developer and NOT Microsoft. They're told me I had to contact Bungie directly to resolve this issue. I have my son's Xbox set as my Home Xbox so that he can play content I purchase. I can play the Destiny 2 DLC on both Xbox's, but he can't play it on either. When I try to download the content from the Store under his account, it prompts a request to purchase it as his account has purchase restrictions. The DLC is already on his Xbox as I can play those missions on his Xbox under my account.

Double check that your son's console is, indeed, set as your home console. (If your son is trying to play on your console, which isn't set as your Home console, then you'll need to be signed in on your console at the same time to enable the license sharing.) Next, don't go to the store; your son's account doesn't own the content, so if your son's account goes to the store, it'll most likely ask you to purchase. Go to Destiny 2's Manage Games & Add-ons menu. Go to Ready to Install, and install. You're not wanting to buy the things again, you're wanting to install using Microsoft's shared license system. -- The above being said, License Sharing IS a platform/console feature. It is not a feature that companies build into their licenses directly. The licenses are purchased by an account, that account is the only account that the company sold that specific license to; that account would normally be the only account able to use that license as far as the company itself is concerned (in this case, Bungie). However, Xbox (license sharing), Playstation (license sharing), and Steam (Family sharing) allow license sharing as a function of the platform; this is not a decision by the developer of the game. Because Microsoft has implemented the ability to share a license an account owns with an account that doens't own the license, it's a Microsoft/Xbox function. They even have a page dedicated to it and it states on it what the sharing entails: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/games/game-setup/my-home-xbox If it wasn't a feature of Microsoft/Xbox, that page wouldn't exist. -- So, if you continue having issues with license sharing beyond the help I've tried to give above, you will need to contact Microsoft to resolve your issue. If the next representative you speak to tries to tell you that Bungie is the one stopping you from sharing your license and you need to contact Bungie to fix it, then I'd suggest asking to speak to a different representative, because, again, it is not now nor has it ever been a Bungie/Destiny/Destiny 2 feature.

Thanks. I'll give this a try shortly. ----Just tried it and the add-ons were there and I was able to install them and he can now play. Thanks.

  • What dragon has said is correct. Microsoft is just passing the buck to bungie.
