I forgot to mention that I can't actually run ping tests to the 172.97.56.0 subnet servers as they don't seem to respond to pings (probably by design) so i'm not sure how else to test latency there

  • have you found a fix yet? i have the same problem with connection issues, they came out of the blue the only change i had made to PC was installing black ops 4 which could not find a single game on but yeah all of a sudden connection issues constantly to the point the game is unplayable ive done all the same tests even reinstalled game and battle.net

  • Sorry for the late reply. I was able to get an ever so slightly better connection by using WTFast as an intermediary. Tbh 99% of the time I consider these services snake oil but the logic behind them actually helped me temporarily. Basically instead of connecting going my normal route to bungie and blizzard servers through frontier I take a different direction by going through the route provided by WTFast which seems to be avoiding a bottleneck somewhere. My service is still nowhere near what it use to be a few weeks ago but at least now I'm not getting disconnected after every match. Also aside from my issue I just wanna clarify that I wouldn't recommend WTFast the majority of the time...... I would like someone from bungie to at least acknowledge my post but considering how long it's been I think I'm just being ignored.....😢

  • no worries, i tried that WTFast out and it actually helped quite abit thanks heaps for mentioning. why wouldnt you recommend it majority? I still get often connection issues but its only anteater and usually reloads back into area but its happening when near alot of players. Yeah it seems in alot of post bungie basically says 'not us its your network' by refering you to the troubleshooting page. I don't understand how it just happens on my end to me after weekly reset with no changes to my network, ISP or local PC. some are speculating its due to change of servers for bungie due to the september change?

  • Really need to be more alert when people actually reply to me -_- sorry again. I don't generally recommend these services because 90% of the time they don't actually provide a better service than what you get on your own. Not sure how well i'm going to explain this but i'll give it a shot. Generally your Latency (speed) is determined by a combination of the service you have and the latency available to you on your ISPs backbone and every connection along every piece of equipment from you to the destination server (in this case either a destiny or blizzard server). what services like WTFast do is force you down a different "path" of routers and network equipment but making you take a turn to their servers and then creating a connection from there to your destination. In many cases this detour can actually make your connection worse than when you are not using it. HOWEVER it can help if like in our cases where somewhere along our normal route there is a bottleneck and going the WTFast route that bottlenecked piece of network equipment doesn't exist. I like what WTFast offers I just don't think it's personally worth the cost of service if you're only getting use out of it occasionally.

  • Also just to add to this in my case my normal route was taking me from my ISP (Frontier) to another ISP (Zayo group networks) which doesn't seem to have a very optimized connection between the two ISPs giving me massively increased latency. In addition to that the blizzard authentication server that I've been connecting two is sending me through Sweden to reach it for some odd reason...... I'm thinking this is going to go away eventually when we switch to steam. Either bungie will use a steam service for authentication or bungie will have their own server. .....I just wished i could prod Frontier to talk to Zayo networks about their interconnect......but I don't think the Frontier tech I talked to was very sympathetic to my plight of latency for video games.......
