Your assuming everyone else has your motivation and goals, thats poor thinking on your part. Bounties and triumphs in almost all activities pretty much screw over your team mates. I'd say it was bad design but I think its "as intended".

Yep. It happens in Crucible too. You see people who are AFK the entire match or who just run around the map the whole match. There's really no way to combat this kind of behavior. "Bank those motes an summon a Primeval!" People still running around with 12 motes, while you wait at the bank.
-
Yeah. Exactly. Although I get the Motes thing if you have 9 or 14 or you see 2 more laying on the ground because that’s going to send a bigger blocker to the other side if they aren’t already on their primeval. But otherwise yeah. Get over there and bank. Just wasting time
-
That may be true, but there's no excuse for wasting Heavy/Supers on the Primeval before the envoys are dead, or invading while holding motes, or actively ignoring blockers. No matter what their individual motivation is, part of it will be "try to win the match".
-
Only super that is acceptable off the bat is tether while wearing Orpheus rig. Helps clear up the envoys super fast and you are likely going to get your super back immediately, as well as poop a whole bunch of orbs for your teammates.
-
That's fine, a friend of mine usually uses Hammer of Sol to kill the Envoys too, because its boss damage isn't great. Using stuff like Blade Barrage or Nova Bomb with no stacks of Primeval Slayer is just unacceptable though.

I personally think gambit is badly designed and don't find it remotely engaging, same with raids and pvp but if I venture in any team activity I'll try to be a team player. I find anything competitive in online games attracts a high number of aholes, the more hardcore the higher the concentration so I avoid them. Playing these things with a premade team really is the only consistant option. You can get lucky with randoms but it only takes 1. Pretty much agree with you.

Especially the "Deploy 50 motes in one match". I normally sit back and let my teammates get the motes while i pot shot ads for them (so that they can collect more motes themselves) and keep an eye on blockers and kill them off as fast as possible. That bounty makes me rush in and grab motes like a wild man instead of trying to be strategic and help my team win.
-
They do this in pretty much all content, its not hard to give suitable bounties to match objectives or singes yet they do the opposite, "by design". Its just another cheap way to add playtime. The fact it increases frustration and kills fun doesn't seem to phase them.
-
It really does. I mean, I get confused sometimes because i thought this game was best when played with friends, then i see things like this that promote solo play and selfishness. I just don't understand it. Granted, i will give them that a good chunk of those bounties are also team based, such as "As a fireteam, defeat 2 Envoys" or something. But in terms of the motes, I'd rather see bank 100 motes total in any number of games, or something like "get 35 kills in a game" or something like that that is reasonable to obtain as a solo player but also promotes team play. I can get 35 kills in a gambit match without stomping on the feet of my teammates, you know?
