Allegiance, The Obvious Choice
I awoke all those years ago, a Warlock with nothing but a Ghost and my void light in a cold Russian space-age graveyard.
I silenced the heart of the Black Garden.
I took back the Moon from Crota.
I saved the Reef from Skolas.
I took the life of The Taken King.
I protected the history of the Iron Lords from the Devil Splicers.
I awoke the Traveler and ended the Red War.
I brought a legendary Warlock back from the edge of time and space.
I destroyed a hive worm god.
I avenged Cayde-6.
I restored glory to the Black Armory.
I am a savior of humanity,
And whatever you try to throw at me, Drifter, will crash upon you tenfold.
Say what you want, bring all the backup you want,
I'll have the last word.

I chose the Vanguard then because I thought there was a way. A way to continue fighting with the morals of the City: that Light alone would shine in the Dark. I admit to it, and now I regret it with a passion. In reality, I was never working for the Vanguard in this "investigation"; it's the Pracix Order-no, not even them. It was just Aunor having me do her dirty work while she sits on the sidelines watching. I'd rather spit in my own grave than work for someone like her, someone willing to level an entire city block full of civilians mind you, just to kill a few Shadows of Yor. That's not hero; that's a villain. A twisted monster. A monster that's seeks only to fulfill if vengeance and hatred in my eyes. Yes I may have hunted down Uldren Sov and the Scorn Barons in vengeance for Cayde-6, but I NEVER involved any civilians, innocent or not, into the matter. And furthermore, why should I still help the people of the City? Do you have any idea as to what the people of the City, the Last City us Guardians have protected for the last hundred years, thought of us when Ghaul invaded with the Red Legion? When our Light was taken and we were mortal just like them??? They wanted to leave us. To run. To abandon us. To leave us Guardians to fight and even die for our home while they would run like cowards. They saw, and possible still, see us as nothing more but tools in a shed. And once a tool is broken; it's useless in their eyes. And out of everyone on that day, only Eva Levante was willing to help those Guardians injured to safety. A SINGLE person in City of at least a thousand or so. And the Vanguard? They had been broken, hell they STILL are broken; shattered through the loss of one. Why should I continue to stay and fight for a lost cause when even that very cause has started to give up on me? How do I know I won't be abandoned on my next mission like Eris Morn when she returned from the Hellmouth on the Moon, or Saint-14 when he vanished in search of Osiris, or Osiris when he was exiled for his beliefs? The Drifter on the other hand, though he may not tell me everything about his shady past with the Shadows of Yor and the Nine or what will come in the next Collapse, and may even come off as uncaring at times, was willing to put his trust in me. Trust! In a person he barely knows, yet he trusted me enough to protect his back and vise-versa! And I, and anyone else who sided with the Vanguard, betrayed that trust. Make no mistake, and mark my words if you must: Drifter does not trust me now. But when he does, if he ever does, and he offers me another chance to ride with him against the Vanguard? [b][u]I. Will. Take it.[/u][/b]

I chose vanguard cause of my head-canon (is that the right term for it?). My Hunter lost his Vanguard and lost all confidence in Zavala as a commander but he's not just gonna turn his back on the vanguard especially in a time where the city needs to project a united front. If the greatest guardian to ever live turned his back on the vanguard and the last city how would they react? 🤔 My Warlock on the other hand is just a greedy hoe that wants more power. [spoiler]And my Titan is just the bastard child that I don't really care for.[/spoiler]

I chose Drifter. Not because my character persona in game cares about his agenda, but because the Vanguard is a joke. They scattered to hide, I had to go save them all, and yet Zavala still wants to be the boss? Nah. My in game character is in a crew that's neither Dredgen or Vanguard. If the game had allowed me to choose "I'm not getting involved in this", and still allowed a quest to play out, that's what I would have done.

Your Vanguard is shattered. The commander is broken and poor poor Ikora can't talk any sense into him. He'd rather recluse behind his walls. Drifter offers us an out. Sure, his methods are questionable, but he ain't a bad guy. But if he turns out to be one, wouldn't you rather a few high profile Guardians be on his crew to shut him down quick. When shit hits the fan, Drifter will stand firm. He'll have to. I'll be staring down his back. If he thinks he can betray us, my Nighthawk says otherwise. I'd rather be that one match ready to burn away the darkness, than let that loose end go on it's own. See what I'm sayin?

The Vanguard can only do so much and with unknown threats looming o’er the horizon, we’re gonna need all the help we can get, regardless of where it’s from. When we walked into Crota’s Realm and fought Oryx in his Taken splendor, we had to dabble with arcane forces that Light alone simply couldn’t compete with. As we speak, there is a flipping gigantic Cabal Ship hovering right outside of Nessus’s orbit and we don’t have jack to combat it were it to make a beeline for the Last City. Even Calus himself is aware of something else out there in the fringes of the galaxy that gives him caution. Such threats, beyond our understanding, cannot be fought back by any conventional means that we possess on Earth. [spoiler]Save for SIVA or Rasputin-certified warheads. Good luck getting past the Quarantine Zone.[/spoiler] And lastly, I do have a theory in regards to Gambit in its entirety. Ever figured it seemed eerily akin to a simulation, moreso than Shaxx’s Crucible? Taken threats will always be problematic, but where they are abundant in raw strength, they lack in overall tact and militaristic strategy. What if, however, we had to deal with something that was beyond the Taken? Something, that could match Guardians in terms of overall battle prowess? Know that saying that if you stare into the Abyss long enough, it’ll stare right back at ya? Maybe ol’ Drifter had that saying in mind when he was setting up Gambit, but in a more literal sense. With that in mind, Gambit and the Drifter are simply valuable assets that we can use to get ready for the dark times ahead. I’m not siding with Drifter because I want to or just to get some freshly squeezed power (with pulp). [i]I’m doing this for the Titan we left on the Moon. He would’ve wanted it.[/i]

3 通の返信You’re not really supporting the Vanguard, you’re supporting the Praxic Order, who have lied and stolen from the Vanguard and have ignored orders from them. The Praxic Order wants some dude dead because he [i]looks[/i] suspicious. The Drifter? Doesn’t trust anybody, just wants to survive. What did he do wrong? Some guardians die because he wasn’t holding their hand the whole way and suddenly he becomes a villain? Last time I checked, we have superpowers and don’t need someone to carry us through everything we do. TeamVanguard is actually TeamPraxic, and the Praxic Order is investigating everyone (including us!!) because they “look suspicious” even after the Vanguard has said the Drifter is cleared to stay in the tower. The Praxic Order has even considered overthrowing the Vanguard occasionally, so they’re a bunch of lying traitors.

1 返信The drifter has never lied to us, never talked behind our backs and has shown respect for what we do even though he disagrees with basically anything to do with the traveller. The Vanguard trust us, but to them we're a loyal soldier and a hero, but nothing more. We aren't treated as anything but a soldier to them. Then there's Aunor, poking her nose in where it doesn't belong because her ideals are threatened by the mere existence of the Drifter. She, behind our back, accused us of being a part of Cayde's death. She realised she had no evidence and was thus wrong but now she uses the Vanguard to try to twist us to HER side. She isn't on the Vanguard's side at all, she and half of the Praxic Order want to remove the Vanguard because they don't trust them, they don't trust us, the people who have defended and STILL defend them from everything. They are willing to create chaos because they disagree with the Drifters ideals, because he renounced the traveller. She thinks that Shin would agree, yet even he has trust in us enough to let us choose, to let us walk the thin line between light and dark. He's allowed the Drifter to do his own thing despite knowing what he's up to but he made the promise that he WILL stop us if he needs to. Aunor and her Order are far more dangerous than the Drifter is. He may be meddling with the darkness but they're just afraid of what they don't understand. They confiscate any artifacts tied to the darkness, for the greater good or whatever, they too have ties, why do the consensus not remove them too? I'm not a blind soldier. I've answered every call and have received no trust in return, if they want to kill me, they're welcome to try, but I will not stop. We know nothing about our enemy, we know nothing about what the traveller really wants, Aunor can remain blind all she wants but she will not force me to remain so.

1 返信I went with Drifter. As a Hunter main, I was always very pleased with the direction they took with Cayde. I always liked the way he handled missions; just a bit of the books. The other Vanguard don't take the same risks or have that sense of adventure, but... the Drifter does. Also, in case Uldren becomes Hunter Vanguard, I'll be damned if I'm siding with him.

Zavalas a pussy (and he calls himself a Titan) and we know little about Ikora (she may be hiding something). Granted we don't know much about Drifter either. But just as i'm blindly following the Drifter, i'm blindly following the Vanguard. And really what all have the Vanguard done since our guardian was revived? I've SINGLEHANDEDLY taken down major threats FOR them while they sit back and relax. I rather follow someone potentially evil than a group of "leaders" who can't shit done for themselves.

If Light and Darkness cancel each others, then being a minimum corrupted may be the only chance for gardians and mankind to survive the gathering storm. And i think the Vanguard, especially Zavala are aware of Drifter's action. They may not approve it, but understand his goal.

3 通の返信Uh no. Aunor killed innocent lives to get a hostage away from the Shadows of Yor while Drifter tried to talk them down peacefully. It’s not necessarily the vanguard either. It’s Praxic v Drifter. Vanguard wants Aunor to leave him alone.
