Grind is too lengthy, while the resources are not abundant enough

Since the introduction of Enhancement cores it has gotten increasingly difficult to Grind to level up if a person wishes to keep the gear they like and not swap out for other pieces of gear their not comfortable with. Each season since the introduction of Enhancement cores the grind has felt less and less fun and more like a chore that I have to get done to enjoy the new content to its fullest. I strongly feel that even more sources of Enhancement cores need to be added to the game, a casual player like most of my friends can't ever hope to obtain enough of them to keep their preferred Loadout with out running out of cores, eventually they've got to just equip what higher power things they have even if it's not their play style which quite frankly can ruin the experience. I play a lot more than they do and I still some times run out of Cores. In terms of planet resources if their going to be used for every thing we need Public Events and Lost Sectors to reward them in greater quantities to help prevent us from needing to spend all of our glimmer on them at Spider constantly. The grind during Black Armory was the worse it's ever been so many quest steps over and over, making us play the old content to even experience the first forge was a horrible idea. The way you released Prison of Elders in D1 was much better than the Forges. We need the ability to select them from the menu and join matchmaking with out needing to walk all the way to it. Implement a system for those who run three characters where lengthy quests such as the Forge quests are shortened for the other two characters after a person's main-character has cleared it. I'm loving Gambit Prime but please add some thing for those who dont enjoy it soon before players stop playing do to a content drought.

  • Hey all, Thanks for the feedback! I'll pass along feedback concerning Enhancement Cores. Additionally, the team is aware of players wanting the Forge intro quests to either be account based, or shortened on alternate characters. In terms of Planetary Materials, these can not only be purchased at the Spider, but can also be acquired by completing daily bounties from vendors on each Destination. If you find yourself lacking in these resources, I highly recommend grabbing these bounties as you do Flashpoints or other activities on the destinations. Ultimately, the current grind of Destiny 2 is a result of of feedback - players asking for long-term goals within the game that can be achieved through gameplay and various investment/economy systems. For the Annual Pass content and post-Forsaken seasons, these were developed to be extensions of the end-game. Increases to power levels, the introduction of more activities or end-game versions of said activities, and new gear to grind for. This isn't to say "we gave you what you wanted, so stop complaining!" This to say that we've gone in this direction to address player feedback, but Destiny 2 will continue to change and evolve. Not just new reasons to play, but changed to existing content to address feedback and keep players engaged. Quality of Life, sandbox updates, economy tuning, etc. We will continue to collect feedback and inform the team of what the community is talking about, so thank you again for coming to Bungie.net to lend your thoughts on the current experience.

    • I started out last week with 160 enhancement cores. They have been easy to get for awhile now. -Buying 2 or 3 a day from Spider -Doing Spider bounties -Breaking down armor/weapons you do not use -Doing scrapper bounties I did this with 2 characters. I was also rewarded 15 cores for completing the Nascent Dawn quest for a second time. So bungie has offered them as a reward.

    • I find it quite annoying how the only real "solution" to this problem is to only infuse once you reach max level. I thought the point of the game was to be YOUR LEGEND. To create a more badass version of you. But, if you reach max level, what is the point in playing anymore. The goal has been reached, so why keep playing? In D1, the most gratifying evolution of my character was in RoI. When I got the Days of Iron set for my Hunter, I stuck with it the entire expansion, and infused it with higher level gear. I never took it off. Low and behold, I get all of the armor with the ornaments and I feel like my character reached its peak in evolution. It feels like a crafted experience that was defined by the player. I went from a Hunter with leathery gear to a Hunter with fire on literally every aspect of his body. It felt amazing. That WAS my endgame.

        It’s the design team’s philosophy to keep us grinding by any means possible. If we actually got something for our effort and time spent we might be satisfied, but the design of the game right now tells me the designers are only interested in figuring out new ways to bait us into playing more. It’s sad how little Bungie trust their own game to keep players playing that they think they have to keep us addicted through these blatantly obvious carrots on a stick.

      • I feel like bungie will literally rename them to "enhancement chores" before they remove them from infusion at this point. Who in their right mind wants to feel like they're doing chores just to use their favourite gear? Especially if you go in to the Reckoning and get that fancy new Gambit Prime set which drops like 20 points below your power. (Unless you infuse it you'll be at a disadvantage in Prime)

        • I remember in D1 when I first started playing that Motes of Light were hard to come by. Same with strange coins. But as you leveled up and continued to play they became easier to come by. That is not the case in D2. They are as scarce in the 400's as they are in the 600's. Hard to say why this is the case.

          • Costs are generally too high for everything, IMO. For example, gunsmith packages should be half the cost. I've only gotten one Erentil since Forsaken dropped. I'd love to grab another, but even the CHANCE to get one costs 100 gunsmith parts. Just too much. And that's not even considering overlapping currencies. I'd love to put a rampage spec on my Blast Furnace. Problem is, I've never even seen a rampage spec, despite grinding the first three forges a ton. And to even buy one BA mod — which is itself RANDOM — means spending gunsmith parts. When I finally get enough, I go see Ada, hit the button and ... dammit, quick access sling! Can't they just sell each mod individually? WHY DOES EVERY FVCKING THING IN THE GAME HAVE TO BE RNG? [b][i]WHY ARE THEY SO FVCKING INTENT ON BOTTLENECKING THE WAY I PLAY THE GAME?[/i][/b] Goddamn. GG, Bungie.

              I cannot understand why Bungie has to change so much of this system, they have made it ten times worse than ever before, enhancement cores for infusion, lack of drops of required items. It really pisses me off that they nerf everything all the time, they don't address the bugs (Gambit Prime is full of them) and they still have that idiot Luke Smith in the picture. The game is starting to be unplayable due to all the new issues. I really do hope that they fix things, I love Destiny but am ready to walk away after spending so much money on the game.

                Strike playlist should drop enhancement cores. And every second crucible match. They should drop just doing normal daily activities on destiny.

                • I can’t believe there are people who defend this level of grind. Grinding used to be fun, Bungie made it tedious. They just don’t know how to balance it, especiallly when their expansions don’t include much new content other than small events which ultimately makes the grind all about old content. Something f isn’t clicking at Bungie

                    • I never minded a grind, but receiving the same old loot from vendors and world drops since day one is not worth it. I want to have a chance to grab something new while doing the normal daily grind...or simply playing the game the way I want to play it.

                      • Good luck, people still don’t understand that apart from a couple of spider bounties every other way to obtain cores is RNG based. Just grinding ghost fragments is a pathetic system, you can’t even hold enough of them to buy all the bounties, that right there shows you what a bodged system it is. I’m not going to waste my breath again describing my typical experience of a hardcore player going through the grind for cores. There has been enough posts and enough videos clearly stating how broken this levelling system is.

                          • i think scrapper bounties should reward more than one core. A lot of the time i delete them as its not worth the trouble to do certain activities for one core

                          • I never got to the second forge in black armony because it was a chore they forced on me, and I never played the forges to get the weapons due to my hatred for them. I only played Crucible everyday and thats it during season 5, and I am still feel alienated by it due to them locking the Unbroken seal behind a triumpgh requiring you to get to legend for each 3 seasons.

                          • i don’t mind grinding. but grinding and leveling are not the same issue. leveling has become doing the same activity over and over and over and over. leveling is forcing people to do things they don’t like just to level. no one typically likes every aspect of a game but likes different pieces. grinding is working toward something you might like. leveling is doing activities you might not like just to level.

                          • The grind is bad. Take the service revolver or oxygen SR3 as and example. While I think this update is lack luster I forced myself to do the 40 strikes to get the guns just to see what good doing 40 strikes would be besides the gun itself. As you can guess it was just about useless. From 40 strikes I kept nothing from them other than the rare enhancement core. What is the point of doing something, especially a game feature what hasn't been updated in months, strikes in this case, just to for the sake of grinding for a gun? Shouldn't there be some reason, some gain, fun, something along the way? Grinding tired old content to get something new is stupid if you don't have fun or some other gain along the way.
