This week at Bungie we’ve been listing and it’s time for some answers. The landscape has changed for developers since 2014. Communities ask for changes and developers respond - and respond in a timely fashion. It’s time we do the same. In addition to monthly sandbox updates we will be making quick adjustments in the game for content too. No more waiting 6 months or a year for us to undue a mistake we’ve made in the past. Economy We know cores have been a hot button topic. Along with the other changes coming with Season of the drifter all powerful gear drops are now guaranteed to drop at MW level 4 guaranteeing you a core upon dismantle - much like augmented weapons. We’ve also given Ikora a reason for being by having her serve as another exchange vendor albeit more expensive but without her price doubling. Cores will cost 30 shards + 10 planet materials each and remain that price so feel free to stock up with you have the extra materials! Enhanced Perks With Season of the Drifter we are adding enhanced perks to the perk pool to the following activities; Iron Banner, 100k powerful NF drops, forge armor, Trials (see below), new gambit activity, faction rallies (see below). Prestige raids now also have random rolls including a chance at enhanced armor drops. Trials of the Nine We’ve heard you loud and clear. The community wants any form of Trials back. While we want to deliver a new Trials of Osiris experience, and at the same time to bring justice to the Osiris character, it’s not as easy said as done. Having said that we have already made Trials of the Nine for D2. So we will be returning Trials of the Nine sometime no later then May. It will have the same armor and weapons but now have random rolls. Osiris will eventually redeem himself but for now this is a hell of a lot better than nothing. Besides we sold you this content as part of Vanilla D2 and we should let you play the content that you paid for. We’re sorry there will still be DDOSing going on but players will receive perma bans much like the players who played FalloutPlays yesterday got in 2 hours. Faction Rallies Again something is better then nothing right? Now featuring random rolls and enhanced armor. We’ve also developed a new strike playlist which has strike scoring. You’re other two fireteam members will be the other two factions you are not pledged to. Highest score, besides getting more faction tokens, gets a chance at Cores or even NF specific loot! Again you paid for this as part of Vanilla D2 and it’s only right you should be able to play the content you’ve paid for. Buffs and small tweaks - no more sweeping nerfs We realize with the last balance patch that we butchered Nova Warp. We are sorry that was a sweeping nerf, something we said we would not be doing anymore. Now that we are making monthly updates we will be able to more fine tune the sandbox. Nova Warp will receive a buff with Season of the Drifter. We will try and bring things up rather then nerf things. If something is to strong we will make slight adjustments from here on out instead of outright gutting an entire subclass or weapon archetype. We know there is a lot more we need to address. We are our own company now and it’s time we listened to our community that has been with us for nearly 5 years. We will no longer just be listening. We will be giving timely answers. We’re proud to have you guardians along for the ride with so many other similar games popping up. It’s time we make you proud to call yourself a guardian to other gamers. ~ Worm 🐛 Edit: To everyone saying don’t change cores. I have 91 cores right now and all masterworked weapons, all masterworked armor and enhanced perks on said armor. Casuals, pvp players, pve players, hardcore players are all part of the community. The more players playing is good for the health of the game. You are not the only type of player that matters. Do unto others something something.. Edit 2: Can we all agree that more players and more activities is better than less? You don’t have to play Trials. I don’t have to play raids, but having more players in general is good for the population and durability of the player base. It’s time to agree to disagree.
