...it was one of the best Destiny experiences I've had in a long time. I've been playing Destiny since 2014. I used to Raid with my school friends every week, run Nightfalls, etc., the game truly was a ritual. Unfortunately early on in Destiny 2's life, all of my friends stopped playing and I was the last person left. I tried to grab matches through LFG's when I could, but mainly played alone. Destiny is best played when you're with your friends, and for a long time now it never felt like it used to because I played alone. But, yesterday changed that. It was around 1-2am, and I wasn't tired, so I thought I'd look through the Companion App's LFG feature to see what was going on. Was looking to do a Prestige Leviathan run, and saw someone was "teaching his buddy how to do the Raid". In my naivety, I joined thinking they were doing the Leviathan, when in fact they were doing Last Wish. I made a mistake, and even told the guys I was willing to leave if they wanted me to, but they already had two new guys anyway, so they let me stay. One by one, encounter by encounter, we went through the Raid, figuring stuff out, coordinating and communicating, and having a great time while doing it. Many laughs were had, and when we finally took out Riven's heart, we were all extremely grateful for the company and support we all had going through the Raid (and for the 2nd Eternal Key ;)). It was 6am when we finished. We all added each other, said our goodbyes, and went on our way. Very few games are able to bring players from all across the world into a friendly environment. Destiny continues to accomplish that. Hats off to you Bungie. I'm looking to Raid and play more Destiny as we continue through these seasons.
