They're an unnecessary addition imo, is there any disadvantage to removing them at all?

This leads to possible missed hidden gems in the loot pool that aren't getting credit for usage even though many are genuinely fun and practical.

I could argue that due to high costs of infusion, players only infuse their meta weapons and leave everything else behind as it's not worth spending the cores on other gear. Whereas without having to find cores all the time you can infuse anything up to your current power level, and if it turns out to be crap then no problem just infuse it into something else.

They have to choose whether to infuse the EP shotty or their favorite handcannon for example, when maybe they shouldn't infuse either, but try out that random rolled, high light misfit for a while instead. Or maybe people get a high light power armor piece drop with bow related perks when they don't typically use bows. Maybe instead of complaining that their armor roll is trash and they can't afford to infuse, they should just use a bow for a while and see if they can get good with it. it took me a second to see and feel the benefits of the archers tempo/rampage combo but damn, its satisfying when you get those perks rolling. I always like to choose learning and adapting over b!#ching and complaining. I've learned it leads to a better game experience for me, because then i'm not as bored with the meta by the time I reach max light, and the game feels fresher and more exciting because opening up every powerful engram matters because I know I am going to use that piece for a while. not to mention its made me a better, more rounded/complete gamer.
