I used Age-old Bond for my auto rifle kills and multikills for Breakneck. Each bullet does the same damage as Bygones bullets. AoB has really good range for being an auto rifle. And it's an energy weapon, so it does pretty well against enemies with shields, too. Especially when you're facing Vex.

I misunderstood what your post said then because I don't see any suggestions on how to improve auto rifles. I just saw complaints about damage falloff, so I gave a suggestion for an auto rifle that doesn't seem to have those falloff issues and works against enemies with shields. (The other complaint in the post)
