Hi, That certainly sounds annoying! I know you said it only happens in Destiny, but are you 100% sure? Could it be a coincidence? I have had this happen to a pair of headphones that were connected to a soundcard, and that soundcard had a loose 3.5mm socket so when I wiggled the headphone wire at the headphone socket end it would cause the sound to lose its low end completely. What happens when you exit out of Destiny? Does the sound restore back to normal? I guess it doesn't as you mentioned sound went back to normal after a restart. When the sound loses its low end, try disabling the sound device in device manager and then re-enable it to see if the sound goes back to normal. Also, you could try stopping and starting the windows audio service to see if that restores the sound back to normal, access it by typing services.msc into window search box. Have you tried another pair of headphones to see if the same happens? Also, have you tried uninstalling any software that came with your headphones (if installed) to see if that makes any difference?

It only happens in Destiny. I can tab out of the game and run a youtube video with perfect audio, while Destiny plays in the background with it's flat audio. I've tried disabling the device and ending the audio process as part of my initial troubleshooting process, but it hasn't worked. Unfortunately I don't have another headset to test, but that shouldn't be a problem as the current headset has no problem playing a youtube video fine in the background while destiny is still having issues. Uninstalling the SteelSeries Engine has no effect on the headset or issue, although I am still contacting SteelSeries support regardless to see if they know of any issue. Actually this morning, the day after the original post, it's working fine again. I'm still afraid it will happen again so I would like to test some more. Edit; After launching the game again later in the day the Audio has gone flat and isn't going back after restarts.

  • I found this on reddit : "I use Steelseries Engine 3 in order to make bass and equalizer settings on my computer, since by themselves, the Steelseries Arctis 3's have no bass. So, my issue is that Steelseries Engine 3 sometimes works on Destiny 2 when I first launch it after a restart, but if I close the game and open it again, my Steelseries Engine settings no longer work in game. Any help?" https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTechSupport/comments/98lx94/steelseries_engine_3_settings_not_applying_to/ Looks like somebody else has the same / similar issue using that headset.
