Let's Talk About Bungie's Broken Glassess

Hey, all. Seeing as most people are frustrated about Black Armory at the moment, I just want to take the time to talk about something that has been afflicting Bungie since the announcement of Destiny 2. I'm sure you probably noticed it, but in case you haven't? Here it is. Bungie. Has. Trouble. With. Feedback. Have you seen how, when the community asks for something, Bungie delivers it in some sort of manner that... just ISN'T what the community asked for? People wanted more balanced PvP, we got the Kinetic/Energy/Power system. People wanted more end-game activities, we got Escalation Protocol where you needed three Fireteams in the same place to do it. People wanted more Raid content at Launch and beyond, we got Leviathan and the Raid Lairs. Kinda messed up there, didn't they? Not only that, but have you noticed how Bungie generally introduce things and they are pretty good... but then they suddenly change their minds and go on a whole other tangent? Infusion, for example. Pre-Forsaken update came out, you only needed a general combo of Shards and Planetary Resources to Infuse. It didn't require too much of a grind, but it needed people to go to the required planet to gather resources. It also gave Patrols meaning. Next minute, Forsaken comes out. They ramp up Infusion costs, introduce Spider's economy and return planets to being useless outside of Flashpoints. Now, with Black Armory, it seems that both of these things have been done to this content. On paper and in press, the general idea we had gotten was that the Annual Pass content was meant to encourage continual play, giving us enough stuff to do until the next major expansion. They also would not have story content, a result of us not wanting any more short stories after the failure of Curse of Osiris and Warmind's story missions. Everything looked to be exciting, right? Welp. Thanks to this looking glass that Bungie has, we just got a DLC where everyone is unable to do the new bit of content. There is no progression element to bring people up to the levels required to even remotely begin the new content and earn the new gear. We literally got another Escalation Protocol, with a ball-gathering mechanic instead of a rift-closing one. This is not exactly what we wanted, right? If anything, this and the other two content drops are probably going to be better off going untouched until the next major expansion, whenever that is. These seem like great activities to do on the side when you do not want to necessarily continue the campaign, not singular content drops that you have to grind for hours on end just to even remotely begin. Except, you know. Now we can't do that because of the absurd focus on weekly power-ups. So, while you now wait for the week to end and your Milestones to reset, please consider the notion that perhaps Bungie needs to get rid of whatever filter they have over our opinions and desires for the game. They need to stop trying to make something that they THINK we will like and make something that we all actually want. EDIT: Changed title to a more appropriate metaphor.

 • A Quibble:
we got Escalation Protocol where you needed three Fireteams in the same place to do it.
I read the griping on this, a lot, and I wonder if many of those who complain about this have ever played expansive world MMOs because this has been a feature since EverQuest, maybe even before, where mobs pop in the world and they take more than a normal fireteam to put down. One more thing (among so many I don't have time to address this morning, especially on raids and raid lairs), a looking glass is a mirror. If you want Bungie to pay attention to comments, they wouldn't be examining themselves in a mirror. Your post is a jumbled mess with a bad metaphor for a bow. I say they should make the game they want to make and the people who want to play it will play it. Trying to cater to the whims of this "community" will pull them in too many different directions and will likely pull them apart...as seems to be the case. They should stop listening to people posting their opinions.
