Maybe a dumb question but will my rank count if I run competitive or is just Valor rank? I’d hate to run the competitive step and points won’t count but if that be the case then...welp.

It's only valor that counts but you still earn valor in competitive playlist. But you won't increase your win streak. Best method is to rack up a 5 streak in quickplay and then go into competitive. Every win will give you a 5 win streak worth of valor and losses won't make you lose your valor streak.
