OK, I consider myself to be a Veteran Destiny player. However, I have a full time job which makes it difficult to knock out all the really cool ways you can gain powerful gear. That said, my main is a 510 Titan.
I will admit I have not played ANY PVP since the Forsaken Launch. I've been more caught up with the PVE content(which has been most excellent). So I was super excited for Iron Banner's return with the Forsaken changes! Being away from PVP makes ones skills a bit rusty. Naturally, I got crushed my first few matches but then an clanmate pointed out the Power level Handicap within IB. After that tid bit of info, I started noticing that everyone who kept killing me very quickly were at 530+ Power level. Mostly 550's though. In return I found it incredibly more difficult to kill these Super Guardians. It was like facing off against a Named Yellow bar. I wasn't able to capture gameplay, so I don't have the numbers or proof but I swear it took two direct hits with my hammers to kill a 550+ Super Guardian. My Clanmate who is 520, was having an equally difficult time winning single gun fights and with Super kills. One hit kill charge doesn't one hit kill 530's either. Sure, I suck at PVP. But this just adds insult to injury and was completely discouraging.
The matchmaking is all off. It killed the Iron Banner experience for me. I LOVE Forsaken but this is seriously flawed and rewards those with time to level and punishes everyone else. I should square off against other Guardians who are within a +/- 5-10 power levels.
Guess I'll be heading back to the PVE side of the house now.

1 返信LatinLegacyにより編集済み: 9/20/2018 4:07:02 AMI would of been cool if it was the second go around of IB on the season but enabling leveling advantage on the very IB was incredibly stupid. They need to understand that a good portion of there fanbase have lives outside of the game so while getting to 500+ is not difficult, it can take some time for people with more busier schedules. With all of the mistakes they made with year one of the game, one would think they their level of stupid would of diminished a bit but I guess I was wrong to assume that lol.

A destiny vet complaining about matchmaking especially with power handicaps? You are a vet it's the only reason I played more IB then I have in a long time it is why I like IB made people want to get to a higher level. Ps now that you don't have the time to play it's a bad thing but back in d1 it was ok? Logic? Nope just only what you want that's all that matters

I have noticed this as well lots of these super guardians as you call them. Recommended power should have said 550. Anyways I think we can all agree this first banner sucks but I'm going to grind it out and go for broke.

5 通の返信I was 536 getting killed just as quickly by 510 light as I was by 540s. I haven’t see any advantage to being a higher light then others in IB.

1 返信light level disadvantages wouldnt be so bad if getting engrams from iron banner actually droped higher light level then 500...

2 通の返信Power levels mattering in IB doesn’t achieve anything other than weak players getting stomped even more. What’s the point?

1 返信There is something wrong with IB because not once when I get totally destroyed do I feel like " wow that guy had awsome skills" its because everyone is spaming cheap weapons and slide shotgun. Powers levels should not alow them to shrug off supers etc. I've got the drop on a few guys only for them to turn around and casually walk up to me, emote, then one hit kill or im smashing them with my titan sheild just for them to pause think maybe i should counter then they use there super, cancel mine then nova bomb. Dead.

16 通の返信Is the level advantage really that much? I'll be 540+ while doing IB so I'm curious

3 通の返信Philimanjaro105により編集済み: 9/19/2018 11:48:26 AMIf you’re a veteran, then you should know that this is how IB was the entire effing time during D1. Frankly, it was dumb they ever removed light level advantage during D2. Glad it came back- but I know I’ll get smoked if I jump in. IB is supposed to be an event for sweaty tryhards. Just be glad they even give us casuals with lives the consolation prizes for our losses. You used to get nothing at all.

6 通の返信Dude lol, I went into the iron banner with gear that made me a 512 titan and I was still beating ass. I was using a bow too. Glad they put level advantages up, its not suppose to be a walk in the park, I’m sick of all this “we need to be even” shit.

If it's anything like D1, anything higher than the soft cap of 500, shouldn't matter. I haven't verified this, but that's how D1 was. Also you mentioned you haven't played PVP since forsaken. Which also means since the weapon slot changes. Initially I was getting stomped because of how much faster pace and how much faster the time to kill was. It almost made me want to say screw it. But I stuck with it and now found my place more or less. I'd say give it time and keep trying

1 返信I think it was too early in the new expansion to release iron banner. The hard core pve has players have a huge advantage this time around. Don’t worry, we will all catch up with them next month! Just enjoy the rewards and don’t worry about it. Give them their moment, yours will come soon enough.

6 通の返信I played with my group of mates today. I’m a 537 by far the highest Light level. We had 3 under 505 light and 1 under 480. We won 8 out of 10 matches and most of them pretty comfortably. The light level does make a difference if everything else is equal but in PvP it so rarely is, different guns, supers, nades, melees, not to mention that you might just get the drop on someone. Just means you have to play a bit smarter, maybe storming at people hoping to shoulder charge them isn’t the best way to go about things.

If you're a "veteran destiny player" (I threw up a bit typing that) then you have no excuse not understanding how it works...I have a beyond full time job working 11 hours a day, and still have one character at 548. It's not that tough raising your LL, you just need to be smart about it.

8 通の返信If your a vet you would know that the real IB power matters . Man you guys complain about everything . Also the advantage is not even much . Someone broken it down a while and I only assume d2 in is the same for every 10 levels over you do something like .05 % more damage. 1 banner will still kill what experienced is what plagued destiny from the beginning . Peer to peer networking and latency .

1 返信I played Destiny back in the day. I remember not playing Iron Banner because my Light was low, or playing it as a challenge to see if I could manage to kill some stronger opponent. It never bothered me, there were other type of pvp so....why don't you just play quickplay/rumble/competitive?
