The “broadsword” issue is due solely to competitive extremely being unsuccessful. The lack of radar is almost solely to blame for that. The changes to matchmaking made account recoveries harder not easier. 1. Depending on your skill level it became easier to solo queue up till rank 2. 2. Skill based matchmaking pairs players based on account wide performance. This means if a “top” player gets on the account of someone who doesn’t do well in crucible they’re going to play against people who also don’t do well. Because of this players on smurf accounts could grind 4000 glory against .5’s with less than 1000. 3. Pretty sure there is no way to measure the amount of players in just comp. 4. Skill based matchmaking makes connections progressively worse the higher your matchmaking tier which means connections got better, not worse for those players while everyone else was already matching against the majority of players so it likely wouldn’t have changed much.
