Although its only 'play' and not 'win' 25 matches, I still won't bother. But I know a lot of players will, and they'll AFK while doing it, making Competitive even worse than it already is. Well thought out Bungie.

I contributed more in my post than you did in yours. People will AFK or just mess about, is that fair on the serious competitors? Bungie shouldn't be trying to force people into other activities. They're so scared their game isn't being taken seriously as a competitive shooter that they try to boost the player count any way they can. Its understandable but again is it fair on the players that want serious competition?

I must have misinterpreted your original post- as this is a valid concern..notwithstanding, the recourse would be changing the nature of the quest step to require some degree of skill (aka, win 25 games- as opposed to giving participation trophies). Yet, conversely, I am flummoxed by your argument becuase the competitive players above all else want to win..the stagnant players will get what they want- credit for participating..so who’s being wronged in the latter scenario?

Its not about the easy wins, its about players wanting a good match and having their teammates walk in circles in the spawn. This game does a great job of making shiney things desirable, and I'm all for a reward thats earned but this quest seems a little over the top and I'd imagine most won't complete it until the season ends. When Bungle will likely change the meta and nerf it. Good luck to those that persue it and complete it, I'm just saying I won't. But lets say I run out of other things to do and my friends drag me into Crucible. I promise you now I'll be the guy running in circles. If this gun is supposed to be for the good, competitive players then it should be for wins, not just another participation reward.

I would suggest that instead of requiring either wins or participation, they ask you to clear a 1.0 k/a/d ratio. They already have challenges to this effect in quickplay. It would assure someone can't simply grief, while not forcing solo players with no team to clear the win hurdle which is not in their direct control.
