Exos are human minds in robotic bodies, they are rebooted to prevent dissociative exomind rejection, or DER, which is where the human mind starts to realize it’s not in a human body, and rejects the new one killing it. Rebooting exos and doing other things such as programming “humanisms” into them (such as the 5 senses, the feeling of being tired, the urge for procreation and the means for it😏) and having the human mind “wake up” in its new body help prevent/delay the onset of DER. If an exo is “killed” in the sense of it has been inflicted with an injury that would kill an average human and his face lights went out, it can’t simply be repaired and reprogrammed. The human mind in the exo would still die in that situation. It was also concluded by the Clovis bray corporation that if you did somehow manage to restart the exos mind under those circumstances, it would cause the exo to lose every single memory it may have and from all its reboots and will become as smart as a newborn child. So, yes exos are pretty comparable to humans seeing as they are human minds in robot bodies.
