The #1 problem with Destiny 2

I don't really post on here, but I wanted my voice to be heard somewhere and figured this was the place to do it. And if you agree please bump to keep the thread going. I'll start by telling you my problem with D2 and the solution to it without the solution causing more problems like what we had in D1. My problem is with the weapon system. I know people think the solution is to bring back random rolls. That is a horrible solution in my opinion. I played D1 everyday and I hated it when I would grind and grind for a weapon and it wouldn't drop. I would finally get the weapon to drop, only to find out it had crappy weapon perks. Other people would get a drop with god rolls on it and be kicking but with it, while I couldn't get one. You might be thinking "He's a cry baby" or a "whiner". But in reality, I paid for the game same as everyone else. Why should someone else get an advantage over me because they were "lucky" enough to get a god roll on a weapon. You might say "You have to grind more", but in reality I played as much as I could. I work full time for a living and I am not able to game all day. So, I game EVERYDAY after work and all day on my days off. Solution..... Remember on D1, the weapon perks and perk trees? Well, why not have a lot more perk trees and perks so EVERY player can set up, according to their play style, and customize their weapons. So basically you know during a PVP match you were beat because it came down to SKILL, and not because the opponent was got a lucky roll on a weapon (unless the other person is cheating in some way). I think the weapons just feel flat and by enacting my solution, I feel the actual gameplay would be better. There you have it. You may disagree, but I wanted and hope Bungie hears my voice and the voice of others who might agree with me. So please bump if you agree and if you don't, please be respectful in voicing your opinion in your reply. Thanks and hopefully Destiny will be great again!

  • I totally agree. Destiny 2 needs Destiny 1 features ASAP. The game is loosing too much players because things like weapons, rewards and missions are not working as intended. Set and places are fantastic, places are awesome, but in the end, the things you do and earn (or not earn) defines how your experience is inside the game.

  •
Why should someone else get an advantage over me because they were "lucky" enough to get a god roll on a weapon.
Because that's how loot based games work.
Because you'd no longer be playing a loot based game. You'd either be playing a CRAFTING game.....or a game with "UNLOCKS" like Call of Duty. And THAT is the real #1 problem with Destiny. You have a split player base. People who are RPG gamers on the PVE side who want to play the loot-based game that is the game's core identity. But on the PVP side, you have shooter gamers who want to play the Crucible as if it were a conventional campaign shooter. Bungie tried to make that game with Destiny 2....and the fanbase HATED it. You can't have a game that is a loot-based game on the PVE side...sharing the same gear system with a game your trying to balance like a competitive shooter on the PVP side. Its never going to work. Because the power-progression PVE players want breaks the PVP balance. While PVP balance (Destiny 2) breaks the power-progression in PVE. The game can't serve two masters.

  • You have a job and go to work when scheduled. Just like a lot of other people. Though you don’t make the same amount of money or have the same things. Is this fair?

Sorry, but the number one problem in Destiny 2 is bad loot.
I paid for the game same as everyone else. Why should someone else get an advantage over me because they were "lucky" enough to get a god roll on a weapon.
Ah, the $60 entitlement complex. Well, you should love Destiny 2 then, since they hand everything to you fast and easy without effort. Fun, huh? By the time Year 3 rolled out, this was no longer an issue. You could get some of the best gear just buying them from a vendor. The factions had excellent gear that you could get just from upping your reputation. So, what was the problem?

        • Destiny was an rng based game, that’s what kept the player base. There was always something to chase. Giving away everything is what killed destiny 2, want the mida, don’t get the raid chests for a chance at an exotic, don’t do the nightfall, here rune this 4 step quest line and take it.. less gifting more grinding. D1 I spent 3 years grinding and never lost interest. D2 I had every exotic and all armour I wanted and max power within a month. I then lost interest

          • Sorry i believe youre completely wrong, random rolls were the reason most people played soo much other than how fun D1 was, coz it meant no matter how many times you chose to do any activity or what actually dropped for you the stats would almost always be different from other guns/armour you had, so there was never a reason to stop playing other than lack of content towards the end of D1 because everyone was waiting for D2, not knowing how horrible it was going to be with sooooooo much nerfing done to it.

            • Here is the thing, and I think Bungie is trying to hold on to. The Crucible was meant to be a training ground for Guardians. That is why outside of damage everything works the same in PvP as it does in PvE. While somethings are annoying, I actually support this. Oh god I have to make a Warframe reference here, sorry and hell I don't even play it. In Warframe, PvP has a very small niche community, why? Because they balanced PvP so much that it dosen't even play like the same game. Weapons, Abilities, and even Mobility are changed up to accommodate a level playing field. In Destiny keeping everything the same allows both PvP and PvE players to bounce between both game modes with ease. Also there is something to be said about playing PvP can make you a better PvE player. Ok that is true if people stop cupping each others balls and actually play somewhat aggressive. By the way what people considered god roll in PvP was subjective. If you had the skill anything really was usable. Back in D1 I could use any Hand Cannon and do just fine. Hell one of my favorite PvE Hand Cannons came from PvP in D1. Eyasluna with Surrounded + Riflled Barrel + Army of One. That thing was a beast in the WotM Raid with a Sunbreaker. For my Warlock I liked to use a Imago Loop with Danger Close + Reinforced Barrel + Life Support. Combined with Energy Drain and Blink it was nasty, it was a PvE drop from Undying Mind and Echo Chamber Strikes. God Rolls really didn't mean the most powerful, but rather the easiest to use. Ok I have rambled on way to long, but I think this is a conversation worth having.

              • I feel that's another big problem the game has.. 50% of pvp players want balance the other 50% want to farm OP guns to wreck with, Yet in PVE 99% of people want more loot depth and more interesting talents/perks/mods/stats/armor. I'd like to see Destiny Separate the loot/talent pools so both can thrive in their own worlds I play both pvp and pve in Destiny and I used to do both in World of Warcraft. It's crazy that I must do pve to get the best weapon for pvp.. or on the flip side the best weapon for pve could be a gun from pvp, they definitely need to do something to change this, and I feel just having separate systems could make many of their jobs much more simple and in turn make the game more interesting for both parties.
