I'm sure other games have this problem, but since my main experience is with Destiny I'll be talking about that specifically.
When Halo 4 came out, it was different from what had come before. I didn't like it, so I went off and played CoD instead. When Advanced Warfare wasn't what I wanted it to be, I played Destiny instead. When I got tired of Destiny, as most of us did at points over the 3 years it was out, I played other games like Doom, Mirror's Edge, Life is Strange, Battlefield, etc. The point is, when I didn't like something I moved on to something I would.
People aren't moving on from Destiny 2. The player count says they are, but the forums, Twitter and any other platform Bungie uses shows the opposite story as people who "hate" the game stay behind for months on end to voice their "complaints" (read: insults, dead memes and unfunny jokes about how much they hate Destiny 2 and Bungie) and try to convince others that they are wrong for liking what they like.
Why? Because Bungie has told them that they will be heard. In the past, when a game was bad you moved on because it was what it was and you couldn't change that. Now, people believe that through complaining enough they can make this game exactly what they personally want, everyone else be damned and that leads to toxicity and social channels being jammed up by people who would otherwise be doing something better with their time.
I don't really have a point here, I'm just sick of trying to follow the progression of my favourite game and seeing nothing but vitriol up and down all my feeds.
Tldr; Don't be a jerk

1 返信I was one of "THOSE" players. The ones that kept playing, and having fun, even through the boredom and flaws. I am an older gamer, been around since TV games played one game, (before the Atari 2600), I am 56. I loved Destiny, except certain aspects of the Crucible. Being my age, it can be very difficult to keep up with reaction times of younger players, so, I ended up hating the shotgun rush/camp era of Crucible. D2, Crucible was balanced better, and team oriented, which I really enjoyed. I understand that many didn't like it that way. The go fast update brings back the part of Crucible that I hated. But, even worse, as in D1 you could counter a rusher with a primary, in D2, you can't. To me, that killed the fun. I tried two matches after the update, and while many would say that is not enough to make a decision, it was for me. I have not played since the go fast update. It soured my opinion of Destiny 2, and my opinion of Bungie. I wish they had not listened in this instance. The thing is, while this soured my experience with the game, it un-soured many others opinion and experience. In that, I really can not complain as I had 6 months of playing a Crucible I enjoyed. Now, others will enjoy it. I just won't be a part of that now.

4 通の返信Swiftlockにより編集済み: 4/7/2018 6:34:31 PMYou're getting upset at a symptom, not the disease. The reason that Bungie is being so criticized is because they had three years to learn from developing D1, and yet D2 is so lackluster thanks to an underwhelming endgame, loot being uninteresting to chase after, and just an overall feeling of mediocrity because the game is balanced WAY too hard around PvP. Despite these issues, Bungie just shuffles their feet and dances around D2's biggest problems. When they do try to fix something, it's often just tiny bandage on a gushing wound that doesn't accomplish much. The Destiny franchise deserves much better than this.

This isn't a real successor to D1... This is luke smiths idea of what destiny should be according to him No one asked for these horrible changes which drove players away. We all expected a destiny experience, not this dumbed down excuse at an attempt to make destiny This is entirely on bungie, not the players

18 通の返信MrKnackebrodにより編集済み: 4/7/2018 7:26:56 PMYou know what? We managed to do that after three years of feedback, the game was in a really good place after 3 years of feedback and development. But guess what, with D2 Bungie said nah -blam!- that, let's start all over again, instead of continuing from where D1 finished.

I think part of it is there's a clear pattern that makes people feel ripped off. It's the same with D1 and D2. Hypy hype and more hype. Then push out something they've stitched together in a few months. Well ok little over a year. Then promise fixes and charge more money for those fixes along the way.

1 返信
Maybe Bungie SHOULDN'T be listening
I've been saying that for years.

4 通の返信Are you saying that you shouldnt criticize games if you are displeased with them? I don’t even want to know how terrible games would be these days if there was no criticism.

People played and witnessed destiny 1 change over a three year span, than game cost most well over 100 pounds with dlc included. Now we all liked how destiny 1 was at the end it was a good state and we wanted bungie to progress with this (the community helped shape that game). They then completely changed the game and made adjustments for casuals, and we all know what casuals do don't we? They move on fast. 3 years down the drain and bungie are feeling it in their player base numbers.

yourchutoyにより編集済み: 4/8/2018 12:44:12 PMIt is a no win situation. If they don't listen then some people get angry, make threats, talk trash, and leave. If they do listen then some people still get angry, make threats, talk trash, and leave. Only now it is because Bungie cannot and will not cave in to every little gripe or suggestion because the "suggestions" will never stop. You know they won't. Give an inch and people try to take a mile. So they tried the "coy" approach largely ingoring the problems until such time as they could capitalize on what little they intended to do. The result of that is the very deep hole they sunk into. They cannot escape. What they should have done they failed to do. What is that, you ask? That list is waaaay too long to type up on a phone. For starters they should have just updated D1 no....not D1...just Destiny hecause D2 really should not be a thing. They should have just continued Destiny and continued to build the franchise from what they established. We all know where the list goes from there. They should jave just been honest about what could be done and what could not be done. You can't please everyone, but better communication woyld help people find middle ground at the very least.

Also, in a game whose existence depends on keeping players returning to the game in a steady, regular basis, developers who doesn't listen to said players feedback might as well pack their bags and close the doors because they'll be out of business sooner than later.

I_am_Tro_Lenyuにより編集済み: 4/7/2018 8:45:57 PMWhen a company considers themselves to be so high on the pedestal and still continually perform poorly... players want to yank them down to their intended level... this mediocre game is lackluster at best. Feels more like an indie game than a AAA title... I hope the backlash continues, to encourage other developers to treat the customer right and with respect. It happens with anything that people ultimately love, but is destroyed by the negligence or greed of a developer. Starwars (when it went to Disney and people freaked at first), Indiana Jones, franchises that go haywire and only want to make a quick buck off of the faithful fans, are at the mercy of those fans opinion when the product is finalized. When you destroy the world people fell in love with they lash out and don’t easily forget. This is all owed to Bungie. I’m glad you enjoyed it, but more sophisticated opinions tend to find the multitude of subtle and even critical errors ignored by Bungie to not be sufficient enough to pass on the hating. Bungie is also handling the criticism horribly, which isn’t helping the outrage.

The reason many people aren't moving on from Destiny 2 is that they can't. They got too addicted to Destiny 1, and its ever-changing world. And then suddenly, D2 comes out, and D1 gets abandoned. They're stuck between D1, which is hopelessly static (and therefore not nearly as satisfying) since Bungie's not updating it anymore, and D2, which has so gutted the Destiny experience that it no longer satisfies them. But, they can't find anything they like better. Basically, Bungie took away their drug of choice and replaced it with something much less satisfying. They can't find anything better elsewhere. Maybe Division or Fortnite or Monster Hunter World didn't do it for them, or maybe they didn't even try them. In any case, they're in Destiny withdrawl, and they're lashing out at those they see as responsible. That "Destny Support Group" video on YouTube might be comedic, but it's not that far from the truth.
