Even if random rolls was what made D1 great, they have essentially returned to the game in the form of masterwork cores... it takes an incredible amount of time to get 10 cores to masterwork a weapon, and even then it can take much longer to get the roll you want. The grind is there for people who want it. It will be there even more so when masterwork exotics and armor is released.

Can you think of a time, any time, when pve players complained about a gun being too powerful? Me neither. Pvp players in the other hand, those that cried the loudest for nerfs, have now deserted the game in droves, leaving us with their shitty two primary game. We should hunt each and every one of them and snap their thumbs at the base 😡

Having random rolls or better mods won’t make the slightest bit of difference if they don’t make you power level mean something, why can’t people see this???

Here’s an idea I had https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/242108819/0/0 I did not like random rolls, think the mod system is bare bones as it is, and can be a great foundation to build upon theoretically. If random rolls came back, I’d hate it but fine. I’m not gonna be grinding for god rolls and one of the thing I disliked about D1 PvP. The staleness of only seeing god roll guns and only half dozen guns being viable. ( not saying anything about PvP now and fun usage. FYI I run Jade Rabbit, Prophecy Sidearm, Play of the Game/Shotgun(Baligant/Retrofuturist) so you don’t have to look 😂)

Maybe not, but it certainly gave players a reason to come back each day. The reason people are saying it's the lack of random rolls is because one of the major reasons players kept coming back was chasing that perfect roll, chasing that gun or armor piece that had the perfect perks to synergize with your playstyle. With static rolls on everything, half the playerbase no longer has a reason to log back in. Once you've got the item, that's it. Chase done. Game over. Bungie marketed this game as a loot-based game, and then proceeded to gut any and all reason to chase loot. It's just the same ten things, over and over again. Can you imagine if Diablo gutted their random-roll loot system? The players would rage and disappear faster than you could blink. Same as what's happening here.

This is what happens when you cater to the pubg, skinny jean wearing, latte sipping, gluten free pizza eating, #creating, ADHD era. Random Rolls kept real grinders logging in to Destiny with a sense of purpose. It filled the gap between expansions. Bring back random rolls and people will come back.

If random rolls are so shit, why has 81% of destiny 2s daily active players stopped playing? And before you tell me, "it's because the endgame is trash or there is no incentive to grind", pause real quick, and realize endgame means endgame. And that means grinding. What better way to grind than random rolls. And I know the only reason you don't want random rolls is because you would get shit on in pvp by some guy with a god rolled weapon. -blam!-ing cruicibabies.

Let me ask the community! What would you prefer for your handcannom? Rifled barrel or 5 range. The mod system does not prevent you from receiving the same gun over and over. Far majority are not master weapons so even dismantling gets you nothing. Randon roles brings the gun into play everytime as you will check them to determine if its better than what you have or allows you to use the gun differently. I had 6 eysaluna's in my vault. Used all of them, lots of fun. Random roles makes the loot more valuable to farm.

On another note: In d1 everyone was complaining about the endless grind and RNG and now players are actually ASKING for it? And people wonder why devs take feedback with a grain of salt...

Powerful guns...and powerful perks. The RNG loot just gave the game a long end-game power grind tail. Because----unless you had a perfectly rolled weapon----every drop offered the possibility of getting something better weapon. But with static rolls AND the neutered perk system....that possibility is gone. Because the weapons all have a bland sameness about them in the service of PVP balance.

Caught_U_zzzzにより編集済み: 1/16/2018 5:33:06 PMYour 1000% wrong Random Rolls is what kept me playing. Ive been saying this from the start. If u dont like it fine, but that's my main thing. U want to play 5 hours a day to collect the same shit then do so. Don't tell other ppl what they don't need.

There was a brief moment of excitement and hope with each random roll. They made junk guns decent and with the right luck even good. There's no excitement now and I have little faith in any mod system that will be developed. I remember going into to prison of elders just to get a hopscotch pilgrim. I was lucky and after a few hours I got one to drop and it actually had a decent roll. Leveled that sucka up and went straight to crucible. So fun.

Redにより編集済み: 1/16/2018 5:55:13 PMTrue, but it didn't harm it either. What made destiny 1 great, was it's player base, but for some unknown god forsaken reason, the majority have left, and I can't for the life of me put a finger on why.
sarcasm
Sounds like your the poor guy that never got your god roll Eyasluna. Still salty in D2? Random rolls were awesome. My only complaint was some of the crap perks that were bad in PvE and PvP should have been removed. I also loved the HOW era re-rolling.

It’s a looter-shooter. The loot is what’s supposed to keep you coming back. Bungie always talks about “the amazing loot” that’s coming with events and DLCs. If there is no randomness or variety to the loot then we are basically just playing COD except we unlock weapons at random instead of through progression, because every Better Devils is exactly the same as the previous one. We want variety. The mod system is just a super watered down version of random rolls, so one can argue that if you’re in favor of the mod system then you should be in favor of the D1 system. The best part of D1 was that the “mods” had more variety in every slot instead of limited variety in a single slot. So even though you won’t admit that we’re right, deep down inside you want random rolls back as well.

I’m going to offer some reasons random rolls are simply a better option than JUST a better mode system (which I think should be added as well). 1. Obviously this encourages end game grinding. You might like that, you might not, but it’s a fact that it would help. 2. The top static structures will remain the top guns without random rolls. Mods will simply make them stronger. How do we make getting your 20th Uriel’s meaningful? It should offer something new or it simple becomes meaningless. 3. Weapon variety is needed. A weapon with sub optimal base stats can suddenly become viable with a unique roll. This allows for much more variety in game play which is also needed.

Jaredにより編集済み: 1/16/2018 7:13:56 PMthere are other, better ways to do it. however, it is still a solution to the problem nonetheless. the problem, being identified as "not enough interesting weapons" or "lack of weapon variety". ways to introduce weapon variety would include having weapons that are modified by the user, or weapons that drop with predetermined variations. one system of which already exits in the form of mods, however, it is entirely bland, and the playerbase has agreed that this system is insufficient, so naturally players are calling for something that they know works. random rolls works. it did not in and of itself make d1 great. what made it great was a mix of nostalgia from the first year, when everything was brand new, and the changes that followed, introducing content and weapon variety through both rarity, predetermined variation in weapon drops, and variation in play styles with powerful gear.

Hated random rolls, grind forever for that god roll and still not getting it got really old. After awhile it was like frack it, I use the best one I've got or move on to something else.
