Unfortunately this is part of a bigger problem. Fixed rolls on weapons and armor. If you get the Fusion for example, that's it, no need to grind for a God roll. So the only way they add any grind to the game is to add tokens and RNG. So not only does everyone get the same weapon, in a stupid attempt to balance the game (equals less FUN) they make the drop rate worse which again makes it less FUN. Terrible design decisions in D2. I hope they fix it.
I completely understand but there's something else that has to be taken into consideration. If everyone is grinding for this god roll, were just prolonging a fixed roll. Now to say that bungie shortening this grind is a bad thing is somewhat wrong, but to say it's a good thing is wrong as well.
There's a sense of excitement from trying to nab God roll weapons. Yes, its true that everyone guns for that one perfect version of a particular weapon, but there are reasons for that beyond just "the weapon is good."
Its also an achievement, either in the form of incredible luck, or the fruits of an epic grind. We're still getting random weapon drops, which is a problem. Now we have RNG drops with less complexity, less possibility - hence why people are up in arms about getting the same guns over and over and over again.
