This, I play Hunter quite a bit and don't feel underpowered at all. The ones complaining are obviously Destiny 1 hunter mains who thought their D1 crutchfest was the norm.

So you're fine being the only class with a super that can't 1 shot other players? The only class that can't offer team utility with your class ability? The only class whose class ability offers no actual survivability benefit?
