This beta has many people thinking they are dropping high Kill/Death ratios in pvp matches, when in actuality the new scoring system is providing us with Kill+Assist/Death ratios.
Since the release you've all seen it, a bunch of videos and screenshots posted to brag about dropping a really high K/D in D2 Beta pvp match. For example there's tons of videos with baited titles such as "D2 Beta Ridiculous 20.0kd game!". Maybe these people just haven't realized it's KA/D yet, or maybe they do know but are happy to mislead people to try and make themselves look good.
The killstreaks are overinflated bs too. I've had games where I get that 10x streak next to my name, and a teammate will tell me "holy crap nice". I'm thinking to myself "I can't be proud of this, I hardly even got any kills in the kills feed, all I did was put a bullet or two in somebody and my teammates cleaned them up". This scoring system definitely does not envelope the same sense of accomplishment as D1, when a 10x kill streak meant you actually had to 'finish' that number of opponents and not die.
My friend said "this scoring system is Bungie treating us like we're fat kids who don't do the best in a race, but receive a gold participation medal to feel good about ourselves". I mean I know the positive aspect is this scoring helps promote teamwork/teamshots, but I'm not in favor of this compared to the D1 scoring system.
EDIT: First point I want to make is that I believe assists are a valuable performance statistic, and are good to have in game. However, when you take two different stats 'assists' and 'kills', then pretend they're the exact same thing...i think that is just lazy and false.
EDIT: Second point is there are a bunch of people misrepresenting the end game stats to make themselves look good. If you want to brag and be proud of a D2 Beta match that's fine, just don't tell me you got 27kills with 9.0k/d, when you actually got 18kills 9assists with 9.0ka/d.

Anything that supports jolly cooperation, I'm all for. In destiny, you hardly ever found randoms each actually tried to play as a team. Now if they want to go all Rambo, they face the consequences and realize that they can't.

6 通の返信So many people whining about this. It's not set as a participation medal or to make anyone feel all fluffy inside, it's to promote team work which is the direction the game is heading. I have an insane amount of unsung hero medals after doing 90% of damage to a player and it popping as assist it's frustrating. The new KD/A system promotes team work and call outs. Ontop of that it'll make all the KD whores stop bitching. Rather than being a dick you should offer constructive criticism or a solution for example a possible solution would be to implement the countdown damage counter so people that need to boast their stats can

6 通の返信KA/D is a better representation of skill anyways bud. Not sure why you're getting so sentimental over such a subtle and positive change.

while I agree with most of what you have put, like the fact that it is ka/d I don't really think that its a bad thing. it promotes positivity. Misleading people is another story. I do think that the streaks should only count if you finish your opponent and not just help in the kill.

2 通の返信Simple: Who cares? If it bring folks in to play the crucible, who cares? Now that they have spent so much time balancing for PvP over PvE, I think they made it so casuals like myself could enjoy the crucible. Hated the spamming of abilities by year 3 and all that nonsense and only played occasionally. Now I am actually enjoying the beta's PvP. I get it, you feel good because your k/d in D1 is higher than other people's k/d. I will reitterate: who cares? I don't check anyone's to validate. I only have a 1.0 and if someone ignores my opinion for it, then they are being childish. Be good at what you want to be good at because at the end of the day, you need to enjoy what your doing. Just my two cents here. Have a good one!

4 通の返信Dude that's exactly right, most players saying how great they are in Destiny 2 and how it's all down to gunskill now and the tables have turned blah blah blah don't even realise the score they are getting isn't even a true score. It's because they aren't used to getting into double figure scores in Destiny 1 so they are like Haaaaay I'm great at Destiny 2.

Probably get labeled as a casual.... in fact I know I am. Lol! But I really don't care about K/D or KA/D. But, I'm use to it. I play Battlefield frequently and get 'Counts as Kill' quite regularly. It's the same thing.

It's designed to make players think in terms of team achievement rather than personal glory. Should help promote better teamwork. Also, makes a bit more sense than D1's approach where you could whittle someone down to 5% then someone gets the finishing blow and gets the most credit. I think it's a change for the better.

4 通の返信So.. whats different then from D1 where someone else would do the groundwork of shooting an opponent down to 10% health, you jumping in and 'frag stealing' the kill towards 'your' 10-kill spree? At least now the other guy gets credit as well for doing all the work!

Yup, make everyone feel like they did good so they hopefully come back. It's pretty funny, all the shit kids are loving it. We don't know if the stats on Bungie will show everything, i'm sure they will record actual kills and deaths though.

1 返信StormBladeにより編集済み: 7/21/2017 6:26:49 AMI like it. I'm so sick of putting in the damage on an enemy, only to have a teammate finish him off and get the credit. Now, anyone who helped with the kill gets credit. It's the same system in overwatch, and since overwatch has a competitive scene, this is a step in the right direction to make destiny more competitive. I do, however, think that they should add a separate section on the end-game screen that shows the amount of killing blows and a killing blow k/d. This way, everyone can have what they want.

I like it, makes it different than a lot of other games and has a better team feel. What is crazy is seeing folks who cannot even achieve 1.0 efficiency rating based on this score method. Land a bullet or two will ya!
