You have been gone a long time.
But you're right. The "sandbox" is not in a really good state right now. Especially in PVP.
Scout rifles dominate play in PVE. Hand cannons dominate in PVP...and power drain afflicts the entire game. The community has been begging Bungie to stop the nerfs and to buff the power levels of weapons and abilities....but the cries are falling on deaf ears at the moment.
Bungie seems hellbent on recreating Halo 3 in The Crucible...and the whole game's sandbox is suffering as a result.
But that's the only real problem area right now. The game's economy and loot system are VASTLY improved from Year One.
I agree the games loot system etc has improved by light years, I think this is the one area they have truly shined in. The game is a shooter at its heart though, that being the case I think they have failed miserably..especially in PVP. I would really like to see the lethality of weapons be drastically upped, if for no other reason than to 'hide' the lag. Bungie need to listen to their community and act accordingly.
At the minute I think of going through the roller coaster of emotions that I did with Destiny all over again and I truly feel deflated and tired.
I'll be holding off D2 for year one to see what they do, right now all I feel is dread about a new title.
I wish I could say that you're wrong about the condition of the sandbox.....but I can't.
I still enjoy playing PvE.....but the situation is so bad (imo) in The Crucible that I simply refuse to play it anymore. I don't want my frustration with what they've done to tarnish my feelings about the game as a whole.
But if D2 continues this direction in PVP, I won't be playing it in the new game. What they've turned it into is just not my idea of fun.
