Hotfix 2.5.0.2 Feedback

There are a lot of threads out there already on the new changes, but I wanted to give a central location to point everyone to when they ask me where they can share their thoughts. Now that you have had a few days to play the new changes we want to hear what you experiences have been playing. What do you like? What do you hate? What do you think is good but could be better? What would you change?

  • Why didn't you simply nerf high rate of fire pulse rifles and significantly reduce the amount of ammo shotguns spawn with?

  • Very disappointing patch. I think we were all hoping for an across the board primary tweek,particularly the exotics,which hasn't happened. Unnecessary nerfs to blade and blink...wtf. Shotguns are now completely unused. I like that we have primary 1v1's now but whoever thought it was a good idea to remove ALL special ammo on death must have been high and then to leave it on sidearms is just bizarre. Overnight 3 weapon types have died and sidearms are being used as hand cannons!!Diversity??? I think removing critical damage and in air accuracy from shotguns would have been enough but,as is your want,you went the extra mile and removed special ammo on death as well. I really hope this is looked at again and maybe let us spawn in with one clips worth on ALL special weapons,even sidearms! What makes it worse is that we're told a lot of work went into this patch,when it looks like not even thought went into it. It took so long to get this patch and it really wasn't worth the wait.

  • What i liked? The fact that you guys looked what appears to be slightly off balance ingame, instead of taking in all the salt from the players and only listen to them. Nobody would complain about a weapon being to strong if they run with it.. and that makes sense... why nerf the truth? IMO almost everybody used it in pvp. In an otherway you could buff the gjally giving it 3 rounds. But then PVE is off balance.. so good job on that. Blink? Everytime someone blink jumps in front of me it was almost always an insta loss not knowing in which dimension they would pop up. By giving them that same feeling of disorienting the chances of winning are more equal IMO. What i dislike. I hate to say it but: The toxic community. If it takes a simple nerf to shotguns or specials to make somebody with 2000 hours of gametime to realize they will never play the game again cause bungie broke it. They were probably in desperate need of a little break (please be gentle with me. I have sensitive knees). The second dislike: WHERE IS THE OFFICIAL DESTINY 2 ANNOUNCEMENT ALONG WITH A SWEET COLLECTORS EDITION. MY WALLET IS READY. I know i dont have much players which share my opinion but i think you did and still do a great job at bungie. Keep up the good work

  • Cozmo... if you're reading this comment, I have just one thing to say: Clever Dragon. The magazine size is pathetic. Picking my fights is all well and good, but the original vendor CD that was offered by Lady Efrideet had braced frame on it! Come on.

    • Please fix the Hungering Blade bug asap. It has affected so much in PvE that was totally uncalled for. Defender Titan feels so weak now as well as Void Walker. Please don't make us deal with this for another 3 months. Get this fixed by the end of this month please.

    • The gun changes were a step in the right direction but I think that the changes to special weapon economy were a bit strange. Nerfing Truth was just dumb in my opinion, its use wasn't that widespread to begin with and you guys are putting all the exotics in the grave. The changes to abilities have been bad since you released this patch affecting other classes and subclasses that rely on some of those abilities. Disappointed in the nerfing of things that don't need to be nerfed and that PVP balancing as a whole is affecting the experience in PVE in a negative way. I would suggest that you reverse the changes made to subclass abilities until you get them worked out without breaking others.

    • I Love allot of it. I think the health regen is an interesting move, if you are going to do it that way I think you should give maybe a little more health, or give the same amount as of the patch, but turn up the recovery of the player temporary 3 or 4, so they start recovery sooner. Hand cannons are Meta which is not a bad thing, auto riffles needed a bigger buff, scouts feel good, pulse rifles are alright...ish. Maybe on death you loose all of your ammo, but to the person who put the final bullet in you, they would see ammo drop on your corps and be able to pick it up for half the ammo you had previously. Sorta like in mayhem, or year 1, but only for one person, and a very reduced amount. I do not want it to go back to the way it was by any stretch of the imagination, I think the changes were almost all good, but slight and surgical adjustments will go a long way. OHHHH P.S. Nerf Nightstalkers smoke! what were you thinking when you left that class alone? how about no taking you out of sprint, but still slows you down a little. Or how about you just take the initial damage off of it. or doesn't blind you. it needs to be addressed, and I mean Last Year.

      i like that my HCR scouts feel really nice again. they'd felt odd without the HCR applied properly. i hate that i lose all special upon death, and i hate what this change has done to the face of Mayhem Clash. without shotguns, fusions, and snipers, we can't effectively counter one another's supers anymore, and we're killed so quickly by them that it's worthless to spend the thirty seconds upon respawn to find a special box, reload the ammo, and get back into the fray. at the very least have Special boxes load your weapon for you upon popping one the way Heavy boxes do, or maybe have us lose half our special upon death (thus appropriately penalizing people who attempt to ape around) but this patch as-is has all but removed special kills (other than Invective/IB/primary specials) from a Mayhem match. it feels crappy. i also hate that i, a Titan main, am being punished in my PvE experience for whatever grievous offences Bladedancers have done to the Bungie playtesters in frickin' PvP. fix the health regen stuff please, this is ridiculous.

    • What do you like? The primary weapon buffs and new special economy. Crucible has been so much fun now that gun skill is relevant again. What do you hate? Hate is to strong a word. Though if I must, it would all these negative comments. Destiny is an First Person Shooter. Not a 1 hit kill shotgun fiesta. Learn to use a primary and stop complaining. You just might enjoy it. I know I do, THANKS Bungie. What do you think is good but could be better? What I think could be done better is testing of patches / releases. It would be a really good idea to have some community testers. Have them sign NDA's and let them help you test out these changes. You know they'll find these issues 100x faster and hey you don't have to pay them. What would you change? Not patch related, but I couldn't resist. More content, more often, oh ya isn't that the plan for D2. Fingers crossed!

    • Honestly I think you guys did a good job balancing primaries. For the most part anyways. Don't think grasp needed a nerf it was the the high cal on clever and that screwed the whole fast firing pulses. I do have ONE BIG PROBLEM THOUGH.. Change how special works when it comes to trials/elimination. You shouldn't lose special after dying in that game type because it turns into nothing but NLB, ice breakers, and sidearms the rest of the game! Just make your special ammo crate spawn later. I'm a top 100 ranked player in trials and I can ASSURE YOU 95% of people feel the same way about trials needing this change just as I do!

    • Really don't like losing special ammo on dying. When you respawn you lose positional advantage and then need to go for special ammo. It is a lot more significant in modes with fewer combatants - e.g. Doubles. Feels like special weapons have been basically been made redundant, coupled with the changes to heavy ammo spawns made a while ago primaries have been made more useful at the cost of secondary and heavy being destroyed.

    • What I like: -So far, I have seen and heard a lot of good things on primary weapons balance. Auto's feel good, HC's feel good, PR's feel good and Scout's feel good. I'll give you credits on that one, you guys did a nice job with the small tweaks. The only thing I could point is that the nerf to the CD was a bit overwhelming, but I probably have an impopular opinion at this point. Either ways, that's a pretty BIG plus in my book. -Titan juggernaut was annoying, so I guess the nerf was good on that one. What I dislike: I know that Bungie has stated on several occasions that PVE/PVP patches won't ever be dissociated from each other, but there really isn't much of an incentive anymore to run bladedancer in PVE as of today. I used to enjoy playing that subclass in Y1, but now there's really no reason to pick anything other than Nightstalker for end-game activities, especially with camo smoke bomb. Voidwalker and Defender also took a hit with the Hungering Blade bug, and I really hope that Bungie will listen and just fix those ASAP. Other than that, this patch has been a lateral move for PVP, if you ask me. Sure shotguns aren't running rampant anymore, but I've already experienced the sidearm meta. I find myself using my Teacup quite a lot when I already have a handcannon equipped lol. That, and I've seen a fair amount of other players using them to good results. Atleast sidearms are finally getting the love they deserve, I guess. In the end, I really just don't want PVP to dictate how I should play PVE. My suggestions: -Instead of losing all ammo on death, make it so that there is a substantial amount (say, you lose 60-70% of your ammo instead of everything). I give credit to Triplewreck for this one, and I believe it could TRULY make weapon diversity more viable in PVP. -Give Truth 2 ammo per mag. Either that or notice that Gjallahorn is now the most used heavy weapon and then attempt to nerf that one in the next patch (please don't actually do this lol). -Figure out a way to make bladedancer relevant again in PVE. Of course everybody will run nightstalker when you know if you pick bladedancer you'll live in the fear of getting slammed to death by every foe without being able to fight back (goodbye hungering blade :/). -Fix all the unintended bugs caused by the Hungering Blade nerf. Nothing else to be said here. -Remove the blink nerfs. I'm not great at Crucible and never saw it as a major issue except in the hands of a skilled player, which is obviously fine.     • You guys need to have real destiny players pre test anything and get it right before any patch is out. To be honest I hate everything about the new patch with the exception of the hand cannons a accuracy fix.

    • What I like: 1. I feel like primaries are fairly equal. You have to change your primary based on the map now. Using a hand cannon on short maps vs. a scout/pulse on larger maps is basically a must if you want to do well. 2. Supers now basically have to counter other supers. Good luck killing a radiance Sunsinger with a side arm lol especially in 3s. Radiant skin is definitely viable. Roaming supers need to basically be countered by other supers now. Seems like a fair deal to me. Blade is still very good because you don't have shotgun ammo to counter it. What I dislike: 1. Sidearms having ammo on regen makes zero sense for balance. It should be zero ammo on respawn across the board. I understand trying to make them useful but they already were in a good spot. 2. The pace of play is way too slow. You've made crucible extremely boring. Your system from this patch provides an incentive to literally not move off spawn. Why move? Special spawns right near your spawn, if you run out and die you lose your ammo. So again why move at all? It'll only get worse but teams literally start gravitating further and further back into spawn as games progress. In control I was in a match where it was 4000-3500 with 3 minutes left. BORING 3. Buffing sticky grenades. This actually countered shotguns and now you nerf shotguns but buff sticky grenades. I can run simmering flames as a titan in Trials of Osiris and never use my super and get my grenade in 15 seconds. A 1 shot kill in 15 seconds when nothing else can besides a No Land or Uni. Remember special spawns in 30 in trials I have my fusion in 15. Same with frostees. With no special, grenades are way more powerful. Theres a reason that as soon as the patch dropped tourney rules made it so max discipline for equality was Tier 3 or below. 4. Now with lack of special heavy ammo is dominant again. If a team loses both heavies they quit. They basically can't compete. Encouraging players to leave due to a lack of competition is happening in literally 2 days because of this. The special ammo nerf is far reaching and a game that is supposed to be FUN (remember that first and foremost) you're making it tedious. Suggestions: 1. Keep special ammo nerf in trials but remove it from regular crucible. Stop trying to make a tourney atmosphere in regular crucible. Its meant for casual play so let it be casual. [b]2. A lot of the complaints for nerfs/buffs comes from trials players (probably well over 50%) so you should focus on trials first as a beta test and then widen it to regular crucible if its well received. [/b] 3. Sticky grenades need to be toned down now that they are tracking 1 shot kill machines. Lower their tracking to the trip mine from y1. No magnetism, aim assist, curving around corners it should be a very big risk/reward grenade. 4. Remove magazine nerf from Pulses but keep rof nerf. Thats all that was needed the ROF made these things useless anyway. 18 bullets for a pulse is insulting. Stop turning our weapons we grinded hours and hours for into pea shooters it makes people want to quit. 5. Shotguns the only nerf needed was the reduced in air accuracy and then limit sliding so it requires a greater skill to use but doesnt break the weapon type.

    • Absolutely HATE everything about this patch except changes to primary weapons. The nerf to health regeneration is the worst thing ever, especially cuz I'm a voidwalker main who mostly enjoys pve. Nearly equally bad are the changes to exotics, especially truth. Seriously, what were you thinking here? It seems you got a bunch of people who never played the game and have no idea about the big picture or any of the intricacies of each class that made them balanced before, and they took the first things that annoyed them cuz they suck, and nerfed it. I thought bladedancers were annoying too, THE FIRST TIME I PLAYED CRUCIBLE, then I learned how to play the game. Please, get your team and game in order, reverse these changes.

    • Weapon handling and sensitivity across all weapons feels very weird, pre-patch I was a very good sniper and very good shot in general with all primaries, but now I'm struggling very hard to even land shots with autos or anything. Sniping has become extremely janky. Was something accidentally broken when bungie unnecessarily nerfed QuickDraw? Or am I in some sort of funk?

    • So far I like the HC and pulse changes. Special ammo might might be ok. Really sad about my Defender. Ok I can run a (sub optimal) shotgun with replensish to at least have ammo to defend my bubble. But the nerf to health regen on super and NBP.... I'm really feeling forced to not use defender anymore in pvp :( Voidwalker energy drain build use to be fun, not anymore. Sunsinger isn't appealing - left with just stormcaller and it's super seems a bit op but please don't take even more stuff away.

    • I think for PvP, you nailed the patch. I think for PvE, this just even more shows the two should not be in tandem when it comes to changes. The health regen nerf is not good for PvE but great for PvP.

        • I like the fact that primary weapons are being used more. That's all I like about the hot fix, or should I say hot botch. You guys really messed up releasing a broken patch. I'm honestly shocked that you thought is was OK to launch. With so many bugs and unintended nerf I find it difficult to believe that you've done any testing on the patch. It seems like you're using the community to do the testing for you. I think the truth nerf was totally uncalled for. Can you please tell me why every hot fix impacts PvE in such a serious way? My advice would be to remove the nerf to hungering blade untill it can be seperated for the other sub classes and exotics. I really do think you've let the community down with this major cock up. You guys might find it difficult to regain the respect of the community after this and, sales of Destiny two may suffer. With the handling of the patch I certainly won't pre order D2 and most probably won't even buy it at all. Signed A very disappointed Destiny fan.

          Love the primary buffs hate the special change. [spoiler]removed the fun I haven't played since the day of the update, I played the update for a good 5 hours. [/spoiler]we just wanted a primary buff but we got massive nerfs along with it.
