Hotfix 2.5.0.2 Feedback

There are a lot of threads out there already on the new changes, but I wanted to give a central location to point everyone to when they ask me where they can share their thoughts. Now that you have had a few days to play the new changes we want to hear what you experiences have been playing. What do you like? What do you hate? What do you think is good but could be better? What would you change?

  • Cut 3v3 Special Crate timer to 30/45 seconds, leave it alone in 6v6, and in Elimination start every round with half the starting ammo (as in, 3 sniper rounds instead of 6, and so on). That way you can leave Sidearms alone and we will still have enough primary fights.

  • Maybe I am a bit late here, but I wanted to thoroughly test all kinds of things in game... WHAT DO YOU LIKE? I LOVE that you guys are now opening a dialogue with us before doing sweeping nerfs... I like seeing more primary usage and less "shotgun apes" who aim for the cheap-shot kills I like the balance of abilities like Juggernaut shield do its no longer "the only way to Titan" I like that you took the timer down on Stormcaller if landfall was used as it does give them a Titan super (at approx 2/3 the size) plus roaming capabilities (negative on that in a few moments) I like that you tried to fix Stormcaller melee range (but didnt really change it due to perk tree enabling it again) Shotguns -- you didnt Overkill the nerfs (except on universal remote and special ammo overall Handcannons got put ALMOST to where they need to be as a whole Auto Rifles getting ANY buff is good to see, maybe up em a tiny hair more? the fast fire pulse nerf was on point as well as high caliber rounds... Hungering Blade change was fine no super should be able to walk through 3 people while being consistently shot by them or supered on - this fix was balanced Hunter knife getting ANY buff is deserved (maybe add some damage) WHAT DO YOU HATE?: How instead of just buffing all the primaries except the OP ones (clever, grasp etc) and then trimming down the shotguns (which I like the overall shotgun changes except universal as below) and seeing how it goes, you swung a nerf bat at things again... nerfs dont make a balanced game, they make a boring one. Universal remote should have 4 rounds due to the triple nerf it received and the slowed down reload speed as well as the reduced hit chance of its pellets in air or not ADS, at least with 4 shots you can almost get a 2 v 1 depending how they play and what weapons they are using. Blink, the HUD going away should ONLY be on ionic blink The Special ammo "economy" -- completely unnecessary with the changes to shotguns-- OR you could have made it ONLY in 3v3 match types, or make spawn with 0 in 3v3 and then you have to compete for crates and get to keep ammo after rounds as long as you didnt die the fact that primaries are only being used because of the special ammo change its not that they are viable insomuch as we ARE BEING FORCED TO USE THEM or a sidearm (which is better than a hawkmoon not due to raw power but due to consistency MTashed covered that a LONG time ago and I agree with the madman, love the guy) Truth Nerf? I dont see why not make it 2, because if it is a problem then look over at Ghally which could even be considered more of a threat due to wolfpacks... I HATE THE FACT THERE ARE NO DEDICATED SERVERS AND ALSO NO CASUAL PLAY LIST thanks... The fact that I have a 169 to 200 MBps download and a 4.5 to 25 MBps upload speed and get into matches with laggy red barring people --and THEY get the advantage... ??? the hell man... or I'll yellow bar due to some of them in a party all red barring... GET SERVERS FOR PVP!!!!! Hammer titans get the cheapest of cheap abilities and super, tracking hammers with 8 shots... and sticky grenades... but mainly how many hammers you get to throw ... yet golden gun gets 3 shots, and tether doesnt instantly stop supers when shot on or right beside them... suppressor grenades do? Stromcaller super range (before and after chaining) is too far for how much flinch and damage it does, which used to be justified by being able to keep it and even hammer titans in check with a well placed sniper bullet--then damage was reduced on snipers and that whole checks and balances thing went out of whack... I HATE stormcallers camping for more super with the ability in their perk tree--especially when coupled with Skorri's artifact... every round after the 3rd in trials was fighting a super we couldn't snipe out due to reduced damages (or you buffing armor for supers?) and it has become a plague in trials as well as other modes of PVP Quickdraw nerfs??? like why in the world??? Shadestep, Blink, Twilight Garrison nerfs over time ?? one use then a cool down... like WTF bungie? 2x then a cool down I could understand as it created more mobility and challenging engagements, also why can the titan have the ability carry over to any subclass but the graviton forfeit only works on void hunters?? doesnt seem like it should be that way... but whatever its another worthless exotic anyways. WHAT DO YOU THINK IS GOOD BUT COULD BE BETTER?: this game? its great but there needs to be a way to separate PVP and PVE Your teams communication with the players about what you are thinking about changing and why... (not famous youtubers and streamers - but the ones who play and keep you afloat buying merch and dlc and silver not just the free advertisers on twitch)... arguably happening now YAY! The fact that when your team sees a problem the automatic reaction is "nerf something!" I remember there being a discussion about the range of stormcaller ult (distance before chaining off teammates) and how it could be kept in check by "skilled snipers and shotty users" well then you nerfed both of those things that kept it in check because of new/bad/learning/whining players who when ulting didnt move or strafe or blink and would get shut down and instead of learning or thinking about what they did wrong they cry for nerfs--and your team obliges them with a list of them Thorn, you did reduce the DoT on it due to it "being hard to deal with" well now there is an artifact that can make the game balance itself out but you never added to the DoT giving a real reason for the artifact to be used-- now theres a balance in game -- and I'm not saying make the ticks go back to 7 damage x 3 ticks (that would be awesome and even more so justify the artifact being used) but bring it back to something like middle ground around say 4 or 5 per tick x 3 ticks if no artifact and if an artifact make it do the worthless 1 damage per tick as it does now. a higher incentive to use something besides skorri's... Bloom or ghost bullets on hand cannons, slightly reducing them is a step in the right direction but the fact is they shouldn't be there at all when I'm point blank and fast fire literally in melee range while spraying my last word yet 2 bullets land out of 8... the first one and the one before I emptied the mag (shot 7 landed) and died to a titan melee that was his second hit on me... yes that close WHAT WOULD YOU CHANGE? Hand cannons - make damage fall off ranges be four sections where the farthest away at 35 plus meters they would do 25% of original damage number due to fall off, I'd also adjust the Bloom/ghost rounds to be more in line of a cone with that and the max damage output would only be for the first 9 meters from leaving the barrel and drop subsequently in steps from there. I'd also reduce the crit damage a small amount due to lack of maximum ghost bullets to avoid them being the defacto OP go to weapon. the fact that sidearms have better accuracy, more consistency in shots as well as less damag fall off than hand cannons is a HUGE slap in the face. MOBILITY CHANGES Shadestep, Blink, Garrison - make them usable twice before having a 1.8 second cooldown (maybe extended to 2.2 seconds) I'd also make graviton give any subclass the shadestep as the garrison gives it to any subclass, changing the blink helmet as well to make whatever subclass using it have blink instead of glide (which would also reduce the gripes over being a dead bird in the air on a warlock when you doulble jump) Hammer titan - reduce the amount of hammers you get to throw in 3v3 modes to be more in line with how the mode should be balanced and only in that play list style of doubles and 3v3's Stormcaller melee and Stormtrance range - across the board 20% of max range before ability chains off to other enemies. reduce the campability of getting super in groups when using that perk in 3v3's to prevent the slow cheap playstyles, the Landfall perk reducing time stormcaller was active was very much needed though. Snipers - let them be able to one shot precision kill roaming supers (not just golden gun), at least if they are Mid (laughing heart) impact or higher Special ammo: make everyone spawn with 0 but keep it each round if you didn't die in 3v3 modes, make those who die with it drop it for their killer in 3v3 and 6v6 modes. Heavy Ammo: if its gonna drop ONLY ONE time per match make it drop for you and stay on the ground until you pick it up, and if you die you drop it for who killed you (like it used to be in vanilla back at launch) this would also encourage less use of the "I heard heavy is about to drop, better switch to ghally ot truth for 30 seconds" when back in vanilla it dropping every 3 minutes as well as on ground after kills helped make you level out what exotic you were going to continue to run since there wasnt enough time to constantly be focused on switching to the exotic heavy you wished to use Universal Remote and Truth - give them back one round each in the Mag No Land - add 25% of the regular sniper rifle flinch to it (due to scope style etc and can always add more as you go) Auto Rifles - add a tiny bit more damage overall to make them able to keep up with time to kill on similar impact profile pulse rifles Shotguns - give them back some in air accuracy, aside from that you guys hit what needed to be done right on the money!!! Give Quickdraw back, all of a sudden 2 plus years later it became an issue when another subclass got ahold of it? REALLY??? The life gain perks, bladedancer is where it should be, maybe leave voidwalker warlocks the same and titan subclass abilities that gain health (not defender bubble though) gain a part back, such as hammer titan super -- but give back the weapons that gain you your health such as Red Death, Suros etc

    • So happy to see the community actively not playing because of your nerfs. Really glad to read you plan to nerf even more. Ff15 is looking sweeter everyday. By the time you sort this out it will be sadly to late. Roll back ALL nerfs and let us play the way WE want to. Selfish pricks you all are.

    • If I could change ONE thing about this game, I think most people would agree to separate PvE & PvP. All the problems with PvP have mostly stemmed from weapons/abilities meant to be powerful in PvE, and all the nerfs to those weapons/abilities in PvP have only gone to harm PvE as a whole. What makes it worse is that the gear you get is randomised, so while you might have a decent Mapador, the other team has guys with even better rolled Mapadors, which puts you at a disadvantage for a reason beyond the player's control. For Destiny's future, I'd like to see default weapons and subclasses (for all classes) for competitive multiplayer. If there were only one of every weapon type that could be used only in PvP, as well as only one universal subclass, balancing would be so much easier, and PvE wouldn't have to suffer for it. For subclass ideas, maybe you could look back to Halo (the game you made with the actually GOOD multiplayer), perhaps making "super" abilities based on the old Armour abilities, or even tweak some already existing Supers like either being able to use an un-upgraded Ward of Dawn, or un-upgraded Radiance. The most important thing is that across all 3 classes, for this Crucible subclass, the stats, the modifiers and the abilities have to all be identical (although various nodes with different abilities to cater to different playstyles would help to give some more dynamics). Only then, I feel we can have a TRULY balanced PvP. ...Thoughts?

    • I lose confidence in Bungie's integrity with "hotfixes" like this one. Not much BALANCING occurred. Instead we've traded the matador meta for the new side arm meta. To add to the new side arm meta, it's the only non-exotic to hold ammo after rounds. I'm sure you guys can go look at kill statistics and see the obvious unbalance there, so can we prioritize fixing that ASAP? Give us our special ammo back for all weapons like it used to be before this patch if you want to help re-balance this game. It's a quick and easy fix that shouldn't take you cumbags long to process. Other than that stop ruining your games. I don't want to see Destiny fall down the same path as my beloved Halo. You guys are the BEST and WORST in the industry.

    • There have been many, many claims that Bungie uses many, many forms of data to determine where things need to be "fixed". You have shown us graph after graph as well as scatter diagrams, etc. Has anyone ever gone back to a time when it seemed as though there was some form of balance to the game? A time when a majority of the community seemed relatively quiet about the game? What was the data showing back then? It is silly to think that something can remain perfect forever, but it is becoming increasingly difficult to continue to support something that is so drastically changed time and time again. A lot of people refer back to Yr 1. What does that data show? Did the Truth really need to go to 1 in the mag? Its hard to wrap your head around something like the fact that you increase the drop rate in Iron Banner to give us more of the weapons only offered for that event, only to now nerf them into mediocrity. Same applies to the Grasp of Malok. People would invent ways to try to get that weapon - now that it can be obtained more often, its nerfed into mediocrity. And to add to that, buff weapons similar to bring them closer to what those "special" weapons used to be? I don't get it. At this point, the game should literally have 1 hand cannon, 1 auto rifle, 1 pulse rifle, etc, etc and boil gameplay down to skill. How do you keep a team from equipping the Truth and killing - try not let them get heavy. How do you not get killed quickly by the Clever Dragon - try to kill them first. Sounds silly, but isn't that the basis of games - to do better than others playing against you? Shanks kill pretty freakin fast when there is Arc burn - why don't streamers go nuts asking to nerf them? Omnigul melts you in milliseconds with Solar Burn - why doesn't Twitch blow up to nerf it? As a casual gamer who has had the game since 2 months after original release and who doesn't stream, Tweet, Twitch and whatever else there is, I hope there can be some sense of getting things back to as close to balance is it can be.

    • I tru;y hope you read and listen to what we are saying. The absolute biggest problem for me is the special ammo situation. I just quit a game of clash because there were two defender titans running around with no back up plans and shot guns and I had zero defense against them, because I had no special ammo and a primary is useless in that situation. It was frustrating and no fun and guess what? I play to have fun. I knew you were going to nerf shotguns so I started playing with fusion rifles and quickly came to love them. But now, what's the point? You die so many times because whoever can wreck with a sniper or sidearm will always have the advantage (and they still will with the recent changes you say you are making). When you are lucky enough to not get into a one-sided match and get some ammo, you have to sit there, collect it, load the gun and then probably never use it because you are going to die. I was joking with some clan mates when we were playing a couple of nights ago that it took me more than an hour to fulfill the 3 special weapon kill bounty because I use fusion and not a sidearm, which I quite frankly don't enjoy playing with. And that's the point: why do you want to force us to play with the weapons you want and not let us enjoy plain with the ones we want? You have to know that's exactly what you did with the sidearm ammo situation and that''s not going to change. Please remember this is supposed to be a fun game. I honestly wish you hadn't made any changes as what you've done is far worse. I love this game, but, man, you really make me want to hate it. That is a terrible business model.

          You want feedback? Let's give you guys feedback from a Y1 player. - first of all, lose the bad habit of lying to your community, the ones that keep your jobs running. It's now clear to everyone that all these patch "mistakes" were intended and that you tried to sell them as an accident. Grow up and take responsibility for your acts; - No one thought Bladedancer was OP except your designer that came to your live stream stating in front of all community that [b][u]he decided[/u][/b] to nerf hungering blade because [b][u]he gets frustrated[/u][/b] fighting against it; - No one uses Red Death in PvP. It's 99% a PvE weapon. Let exotics feel exotics; - Stop catering only to PvP. Stop destroying PvE because of PvP; - Follow the example of other long living successful games and separate skill trees, abilities and weapons of PvE from PvP and vice-versa. You will [b]NEVER[/b] be able to balance the gameplay of both of them in a shared structure; - Congratulations! After two and a half years you succeeded in making sidearms the "go to" weapon in PvP while still not balancing the gameplay, instead making it worse than before; - Don't half fix your f*ck up. Man up and fulfill your responsibilities in the mess you created. Revert the whole game to it's balanced times and let players choose whatever they want to use and have fun in the few months of life that this game has left, without you coming in and ruining everything.

          • You know I see a lot being said about special ammo. I just want to know the reason as to why not to include sidearms in this. Seeing how now everyone is using side arms just goes to show how important the special weapons slot is. Not including sidearms serves no purpose what so ever but to dictate the weapon chose of this community. I believe that such a design thought or belief is just wrong. Why will you. It want people to play how they want but rather attempt to dictate the weapons used. This belief is plain stupid.

          • Make clever dragon archetype good again. I thought bungie wanted each weapon to have its individuality but with this nerf it feels just like a blind perdition archetype and it's sad. You couldn't have lowered the fire rate by 3-4 percent instead of 7-8 percent? All you did was make hand cannons better and out class clever dragons archetype by every other gun. Destiny was fun before but this patch is just shit.

          • I'm very unsatisfied with it, it makes me not want to play pvp ever again and makes it feel like destiny is dying faster. I really want to see hunters back in their formal glory back in the old day. All primary weapons have high caliber rounds with and without the perk, which makes it harder to land kills most lf the time. No Special weapon ammo ruined pvp because there's no option and there are reason why 2ndary weapons are used for situation like in trials. Also hunters get nerfed even more for no reason, it makes me think that deej is really trying to nerf hunters to the point were no one wants to play them anymore because all the does is sit on his high horse of warlock fetish to defend himself. Lastly there are many things hunters need such as throwing knives back because warlock and titan one shot you with a fully charged melee adding to that hunters throwing knives burning perk doesn't even work still. Hunters sticky grenade for blade dancer doesn't even one kill anyone but take half of their health, but titans and warlock get a grenade that does. This game is dying faster and faster I think, also didn't you say you guys weren't going to nerf anything but look what you lying people you are..

            • The game is 60% sidearm , 40 % primary Although the primary side of it is very diverse, most every player has a sidearm out instead Here's what you do sirs at bungie . "Hand cannons" Get rid of bloom on handcannons nerf in air accuracy with hand canons and the rate of fire on the eyesluna archetype by 1 frame . Also make the fastest firing archetype shoot faster , for example look at the rate of fire on the water star and the last word , their the same , yet the water star shoots slower . "Auto rifles" Buff base stability for the Monte Carlo archetype "Scout rifles" Buff accuracy for Boolean gemini archetype & NL shadow archetype. "Pulse rifles" Do , nothing "Shotguns" Do nothing but buff range and stability on lord of wolves and 4th horseman . "Sniper rifles" Just 1 , no land , fix/apply , the flinch . If 1 sniper has an ability that isn't a part of its exotic description that makes it power over other snipers , that gun is thus far , over-powered . "Fusion rifles" Buff all base charge rate , on all archetypes . "Special ammo" Take 1 bullet or the equivalent after each death. Special ammo should only come twice a match , makes sense as to why heavy only comes once a match.

                  • Undo all the nerfs right to yr1. Then create different game modes. And I mean different. Not just a different objective. Different as in weapon limits and super etc. You already have god mode for supers. So why not have game modes for pistols, for shotguns, primaries etc. Have pistol matches with no shields. Halo 2 had what, 20 something different modes to choose from. Its doable. Maybe not in D1 but D2 ya.

                  • I think the special situation in trials of Osiris needs to be looked at again. Maybe lose your reserves upon death would be better. Also im still smacking kids on blade so maybe I need to be nerfed

                  • Here's some more feedback for ya. Laggy players who lag that bad that you can't even pick up ammo are back in full force!! 3 games in a row now.
