Find 2 Titans you like and keep using them to get good with them. Being a decent Titan pilot is the key to being a solid player. Don't ignore enemy pilots when your in your Titan. If you are in a bad spot or situation ( like a pilot hitting you from a spot that is hard to get him at or simply outnumbered) don't be afraid to run. Use your environment to your benefit. When you get rodeoed and you use your smoke look straight up in the sky ( and if possible back against wall) this will trap a pilot most of the time and he can't get out the smoke. Try to have fellow Titans backs. Watch for them being rodeoed and help them fight other Titans. Also if a Titan is fighting an enemy and you See an avenue to get on side or behind them do it.
