Just watched a vlog all about getting better in Crucible by Mercules904.
Can't remember all of his steps, but the first 2 were changing your controller settings and second, play the meta.
This disheartens me. What is the current meta and why the hell is it so important, if you want to play to win?
Destiny throws around the word "meta" when they mention any heavily played weapon in the Crucible, i.e. it's the weapon(s) everyone is using at the moment.
Research says the Primary meta is bullet hoses like Doctrine, Pulses like the Grasp or PDX-45, HCs like the Palindrome & Eyasluna, and MIDA. Secondary meta is Felwinter's Lie tier shotties; nothing else.
I'm disheartened because what does this mean for a player that doesn't like all of those meta weapons. Do I toss aside my heavy hitting HCs like Ill Will and mid range ARs (88/8 such as the awesome Extremophile) to follow the norm?
What loadout do you normally take into the Crucible? Are you a meta-breaker like myself and if so, do you feel you are getting a jaded experience because the meta is flooding everyone's opinion of weapons?

1 返信Meta? ...phùck is a meta Meta-gross the pokemon? And no i didnt read the post. Just sum it up if you care to reply

I think you have it backwards actually. Your Primary should be Matador 64 and your Secondary should be a Rocket Launcher, with those other guns you mentioned for use in between Heavy spawns.
I use Auto or HC, Fusion and Machine Gun mostly.
2 通の返信I'd always do good with a scout rifle and a shotgun that I've only seen 5 others use since I got it a few days after TDB dropped. Really loved that shotgun... But yeh, never used the meta and not planning to because it's usually extremely boring and I don't care about wins.

if you're not using the best weapons available you are not playing to win. lets say you're one of the best players in destiny, top 100. if you're playing another top 100 player the person with the better guns will always win me I love sniping. i still do good while sniping. but I won't be winning games by sniping cuz I won't get kills as quickly as I would by being a shotgun warrior meta aside destinys pvp is still shit. between massive lag and bungie making guns inaccurate on purpose pvp is beyond frustrating. if my aim is dead on my bullets should be doing damage. and there is way too much supers and special use

Playing the meta is playing with weapons Bungie devs feel like not nerfing. Right now pulse rifles are the go to and maybe one or two god roll handcannons. Shotgun ofc, specifically Matador 64 since it comes with max range and impact, you can get around with an old conspiracy theory with rangefinder but the rate of fire of Matador 64 is just superior. Truth rocket launcher.

You don't have to use the "best" weapons to win, it just makes it a lot easier. Always keep in mind that weapons such as the Grasp of Malok and Matador 64 are widely considered the best because of many factors such as Time-to-Kill, Ease of Use, Perks, etc. You can do well with weapons that are considered bad, they just require more skill from the player in order to compete with other players using the "best" weapons.

I'm holding my own with the current loadout out on my Titan. Sure I could be doing even better in the meta but sweating my ass of isn't really fun. It's all about relaxing and finding what weapons you enjoy. Play with some buddies too every once and a while.

SBMM forces most people to play the meta, it's one of the worst things about that system, as at a certain standard and above, generally you'll get destroyed not playing the meta. Having said that, I am not an amazing player, so I stick to high impact scouts and do ok at my level. I like my Badger CCL.

4 通の返信Use what you enjoy and don't get caught up in kd and Elo shit First curse and NLB are some of my favourites

1 返信never really used meta for any game, just doesn't appeal to me. my favorite combo i've constructed so far is my first curse and a fusion riffle (use to be the strike one from darkblade but evolved into saladins vigil)

3 通の返信"This disheartens me. What is the current meta and why the hell is it so important, if you want to play to win?" Yes, it is important if you're playing to win. Using the meta means you are using what gives you the best odds of winning if the skill of the competing players is equal. With this said very few players are playing at a level/ environment where this actually even matters. There will always be a Meta no matter what Bungie does to balance the game and as a result there will always be an Anti-Meta.
