I'm going to explain this the best I can, no tl;dr here because it won't make sense, here it goes:
Take a real life situation, if you have a pistol, the aim is only so big, the aim on that pistol is only so effective after X range. After X range has been reached, the sight is now covering over more than just a headshot, there's a larger "invisible cone" of where the bullet could possibly go, that's larger than the sight.
The bullet can travel anywhere inside of this invisible cone. Now going back to triple's video:
You will see that he shoots his hand cannon in the exact same spot from the exact same range every time (hence, this is a controlled experiment). Some times he gets a headshot, sometimes a body shot, and sometimes it misses. Triple wreck is partially correct when he says that there is "RNG aim," but I believe he doesn't fully understand.
At the range that he was at in his video, he had reached that X range I talked about earlier, which means there was an "invisible cone" in which the bullet could go anywhere inside of it. This explains why some bullets hit his head, some body shot, and some near his head. The RNG aim in this situation only applies inside of this cone, not the actual aim.
Edit: dang... Replies are almost 50/50... This post wasn't made to be an attack, just showing that the test in this video didn't check all it's bases. That being said, it's still quite possible that ghost bullets are a thing, but this video didn't prove it

Obviously that is the intent of hand cannon accuracy currently. However, is this fair? Why should gunfights come down to randomness? How is this game ever going to be competitive if the difference between a kill and a death is a roll of the dice? Hand cannons need to be limited in other ways instead of accuracy issues. Damage fall off, aim assist, etc. Anything other than luck. It's like playing Pokemon and relying on hydro pump or focus blast to hit all the time. Sometimes it's going to miss, and you're going to get punished for it. Except, this is a risk/reward situation that works much better because there are more options. There are far less viable options in Destiny, which makes the initial accuracy and bloom for hand cannons a problem. We need reliability.

100% correct and sound logic. You will get salty rage though, because how dare you say triple is wrong. TW does everything for -blam!-ing views and oh looky he makes a video about bloom that doesnt even show bloom lol... hes as bad as the media exacerbating things as well.

LDSG BossManにより編集済み: 9/11/2016 3:35:36 PMYeah i figured, it's starting to seem that this is the unpopular vote, because I brought "real world" arguments into this game... Problem is, that's just how short barreled weapons work.

No one on this forum will understand your logic because it doesnt involve space magic. You are correct I think. Furthermore, this "invisible cone" would be affected by errant trigger pulls. No one, magic or not, is going to be 100% accurate 100% of the time. Id estimate a highly dependable, accurate shooter is only accurate 60% of the time at the range. In battle it drops to about 7%.

XenomorphWraithにより編集済み: 9/12/2016 4:40:08 AMDude I've fired shotguns, handguns, rifles, submachineguns, and even shotgun-pistols. I know what recoil is. My point is that the bloom mechanic is a really silly mechanic for hand cannons to have, considering that accuracy is directly tied in to the range stat, meaning that the more range the less bloom. However, even with a high range stat a handcannon will still end up missing the mark because of bloom, a mechanic that randomly determines where your shots will land within the "circle" of aim.

Hulkksmashにより編集済み: 9/12/2016 4:54:31 AMEvery weapon in destiny has bloom ... You fire it fast and its accuracy goes down. The only reason people are raging about handcannons is because douche Triple made a video about it. The information in the video was incorrect and not even about bloom. He was showing what happens when you are on the edge of a weapons accuracy to its target. There were no ghost bullets because if it didnt hit the player it was hitting the wall. Every one of those rounds were in the cone at that range guaranteed. As you get farther away from your targer the cone that comes out of the barrel increases in diameter. This is on every single weapon and the cone has been explained by bungie multiple times. The range state is dirrectly tied to this and more range will push out the cone further increasing accuracy. This is not even an issue and people just don't know what they're talking about. Bloom = reduction of accuracy at high rate of fire. (Like handguns do if you dont know how to shoot them)

And trust me, I know what bloom is and how it functions. I played Halo reach for the better part of two years and the bloom on the DMR was stupid. I could pace all my shots to ensure pinpoint accuracy and still lose a gunfight because the other person spammed his shots and they all happened to land on target. It's the same thing that hand cannons are going through right now, and it wouldn't be so bad if your shots didn't miss when you're clearly within range.

The issue of bloom is more prominent on hand cannons though, and when you get a phantom bullet that right there could mean the difference between winning or losing a gunfight. Auto rifles have this issue as well but nowhere near to the extent that hand cannons do.

Yeah but in real life i didnt just jump 20ft in the air and quickscope a guy with my team mate sliding around corners while being peppered in the head with shots but still somehow managing to land his shotgun blast and then he blinks across the room. Get out of here with your "real world logic" because it needs to apply to everything or none sinxe bungie want to go mlg

But it does when most all the guns are using a centerfire round using gunpowder. Unless its some space age powder, but its still a mass of metal getting projected out of the gun from an explosion. This gives you characteristics of real world guns. It is entirely ok to have some real world similarities. It doesnt have to be all or none. Besides if we all had laser guns it would -blam!-ing suck .... we all know how star wars battlefront turned out lol.
