PSN is raising prices...just a heads up...
[spoiler]Sony announced Monday that its PlayStation Plus subscription, which is required to play games online on the PlayStation 4 and includes six free games each month, will see a price hike on Sept. 22.
The price increase will apply to the yearly and three-month options of PlayStation Plus subscription. The annual cost will jump from $49.99 to $59.99, and the three-month membership cost will move from $17.99 to $24.99. The monthly subscription will remain at $9.99.
Those increases bring the price of PlayStation Plus in line with Microsoft's competing Xbox Live Gold subscription, which has come in at those prices for several years. Xbox Live Gold also comes in a six-month variety for $39.99.

Although the new PlayStation Plus prices take effect on Sept. 22, users can "delay" the price increase by stacking memberships, which means purchasing subscription codes at the current price point to add time to their current membership.
Sony launched PlayStation Plus in 2010, at a time when its only current platform was that PlayStation 3. Then, Plus was sold entirely as an "instant game collection," as the included games and additional discounts were the only perks of the service. Online multiplayer was and still is free on the PlayStation 3.
The PlayStation Vita handheld gaming system, which has been met with lackluster sales since it launched in early 2012, is also supported by PlayStation Plus with free games. The Plus membership evolved with the release of the PlayStation 4 in November 2013, when Sony announced its online gaming services would require the subscription.
This new price increase is the first that PlayStation Plus has received since it was launched in 2010.

1 返信Dont forget the prices on dlc and stuff going up, the warframe prime access is now $106.99 CAD (forgot what it was before) but newly released rock band dlc is now $2.99 CAD instead of $1.99 which is actually, when you think about it, a substantial increase

13 通の返信Its $70 In Canada For A Year. Wtf. Thats the price of a brand new game. So If I do buy a PS4 I'll have to pay $430 ish for the console, $70 for a Game and $70 for online. Thats $570. Oh I also forgot to put in DLC prices. Good job Sony. I think I'd rather get an Xbox 1 now.

They're probably raising the price since Sony ain't exactly doing so hot outside of PlayStation. They gotta make up for their losses if they wanna stay afloat.[spoiler]I'm not saying I support their decision, just showing the view from the other side[/spoiler]

2 通の返信So I'm paying more to have something that should have been there in the first place? It's insane that I have to pay to use network features! If I'm paying to use the Internet security should not be a problem at all.

6 通の返信Okay, so I know everyone will scream for a source on this but I can't disclose my source as they asked for discretion. That being said, the reason for the price hike is to fund new network security features that have been put in place to defend against cyber attacks. Remember all that downtime? Sony's wallet sure does. Their answer? Beef up defense, hire experts, and prepare for a future that inevitably involves increasing interference from hackers. The cost benefit equation was assessed and all the money that could have been made during the downtime greatly outweighed the cost of improving security and stability. So, if you are one of the people feeling cheated and upset you have a right to be but just understand that the world is changing. Doing large scale business on the Wild West we call the Internet is going to get dangerous and expensive. You can expect to pay more as time passes, especially as the technological arms race begins to really take off. Sony is a company, they provide you with a service at a cost. Sony is also perfectly entitled to make a profit, which seems to make people upset. There are plenty of companies worse than Sony, just take a look at Big Medicine.

5 通の返信Paying fees to use the internet is absolutely ludicrous. It's completely useless and Sony has already shown that you can do it without paying money. For example, it's like if the landlord for my apartment building started charging a fee for every time someone uses the door. I was completely able to do it in the past just fine, so why should I be paying for it now?
