I made a post yesterday entertaining the idea of removing special ammo on spawn. That would cut back on the use of special weapons in the crucible, but wouldn't affect the PvE community. It would help to speed up the gameplay a bit as well. Players would have to work to get special ammo. It's currently possible to spawn into a match with 12 rounds for certain snipers. That's ridiculous IMO.

If I can spawn with over a hundred rounds for my Lord of Wolves, they can have their damn snipers. It's not as sweaty a game mode and if anything it makes it more fun because you have to strategise.

I just think that the gameplay would be more diverse if special weapon ammo wasn't just given to you once you start a match. Special weapons don't feel "special". They might as well just call them "Your other primary". Having to establish map control to gather special ammo and be conservative with your shots, that would require more strategy.

And it would also be less fun and lighthearted. I always carry plenty of Shotgun ammo. Doesn't mean I only use my shotgun. In fact I kill with and am killed by more primaries and heavies (including sword hilts) than all specials combined, and abilities are a good chunk of the flow of combat in my matches as well. No sniper or shotgun is as satisfying as a good 1-2 punch with a Hawkmoon and a throwing knife, or a sliding Shoulder Charge and Pulse Rifle double kill, or a Firebolt tag paired with a MIDA finisher, or the sheer joy of unleashing an Arminius-D into a crowd on a small map.

That's how you play. You can't deny that people main snipers and shotguns in the Crucible though. It makes the Crucible unapproachable for the casual gamer trying to do well. How many players switch to snipers at the beginning of the match and head directly to the sniper lanes to score an easy kill? A lot. All special weapons (sidearms excluded) can kill with one pull of the trigger. Snipers can do so from any range. You shouldn't be able to run around with a Special weapon the entire match one-shotting everyone you come across. I think that removing special ammo at match start would improve gameplay. That report two weeks ago showed that 76% of all kills in ToO were snipes. That's absurd.
