Funny thing about business is instilling a sense of brand loyalty is number one. I don't think anyone current gen or last gen feels this sort of loyalty with bungie anymore. Halo's rep can only stretch so far and almost none of the original people that made us love bungie in the first place are left working at the company so they NEED to inject some brand loyalty again and stop pushing people away. Having said that you last genners whining are probably the people that still have their cassette tapes and analog TVs wondering why you can't get channels.

You know pal, we old gen and new are part of their customer base, you can try and provide justification for older gen being alienated from RoI but a customer is a customer you can't slice it any other way. What was done premeditatedly was done to stop investment in the last gen which consequently loses them revenue whether they care or not. And considering NO ONE here or YouTube has any real idea how many players are still on older generation consoles other than Bungie themselves that there is lost income how much we don't know how much profit they make each time a user logs in or for lengthy periods if at all. While they are a business I'm sure current gen people see this as progress, but it sure looks like they shot themselves in the foot and act quite happy about it. Like it or not they lost money by this decision.

Always funny to watch console player freak out about paying for expansions, I'm an old MMO vet so I've been doing this since the early 2000's.

Bungie is in the ENTERTAINMENT business. If they cannot provide suitable ENTERTAINMENT, then they should not HAVE any business.

Bungie is not a business, it's a company with a piss poor business model. Either go straight micro transactions or paid dlc. Stop hiding behind half truths and misleading information. Bungie needs to show customers some respect and just announce the long term future of Destiny instead of stringing everyone along. If you like the game, good, but demand more respect from the creators. Bungie works for the consumer, the consumer doesn't owe Bungie anything.

Yeah, they are. And around Taken King I'd be fully on board with defending them, but every previous DLC is required for the new one and they'll likely all be bundled into one new disc again. 60 dollars for the base game. 35 for the first DLCs assuming you bought the season pass early. 40 for Taken King. 30 for the new DLC. That's assuming you didn't buy any special collector's editions or anything, and that's $165 dollars I'll have spent on a game that's had content issues since launch. People who only had Vanilla Destiny and want to get back in will find it cheaper to buy the inevitable whole new disc than to catch up by simply buying what are supposed to just be DLCs. Something about that is wrong fundamentally. Bungie did this wrong. It's not simple enough to say Activision ruined the game, and it's not reasonable to blame the devs for it. That doesn't change the fact that Destiny still has the same longevity problems that became so apparent after Dark Below launched and we realized that we'd be going however many months without more new content. The free updates that were supposed to be a tradeoff to microtransactions have managed to be even slower and less effective than HoW was at prolonging satisfaction. I think they jumped the gun with Destiny. They weren't ready to try to tackle a game closer to an MMO, so they ended up with a shared-world mix of two genres that couldn't quite excel in either. They weren't prepared for the content consumption that comes with RPGs, so they lost control of the community because they couldn't keep the hamster wheel spinning. Learning as they went wasn't enough, so they naively started work on a sequel while trying to continue committing to a game that required all of their attention to succeed. I don't think Destiny was a failure, and for the sake of the memories I have of playing the alpha and being blown away I won't ever try to imply that. But it's certainly not the kind of success to justify such avid defense when something's going wrong at the core of it all. Destiny was a game with the ambition of a CD Projekt Red title, developed with the commitment and future planning of the CoD series. It's been burning out for a long time, and while people certainly deserve to feed their families they're certainly not the ones at the top making these decisions who likely don't have to worry on that front. I'm not going to misplace sympathy as a substitute for my own thoughts and judgements. It makes me unbelievably sad to say I don't approve of Bungie, but they're trying to sell an unstable product because while they'll try their hardest to fix it, they don't know if they can. They've been doing that for a year, and it's not something I can take anymore. Just because I love something or care about people doesn't mean I can bring myself to support them to the ends of the earth. I may know the VoG inside and out, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna stick around to watch the people who made it slowly march to the depths of hell. And it's been a while since I've been in this tag so I don't know if it's devolved to short answer only. If anyone wants to give me a TL;DR for the wall of text, go nuts. It's always been my opinion that there's nothing wrong with long-winded arguments since in real life the only reason they seem short is that we constantly interrupt each other, with no way to fully express our thoughts before any rebuttal.
