Bungie-
BigTex here. Big fan. Loyal customer. I only have time for one video game in my life and Destiny is it.
In a PVP slump. Big Time.
Before Destiny, haven't played PVP on an FPS regularly since Halo 3. Used to be pretty damn decent. Time has passed me by. New video gamers have come and brought this crazy thing we all love to another level that I don't think I can every really compete in. The run and gun, two guys shooting it out at mid to close range while dodging the occasional sniper fire or shotgunner, style of play is dead in this game. D-E-A-D. And you guys have killed it.
When Destiny came out, I avoided PVP like the plague. I knew that I couldn't compete. The times I did dabble in it my thoughts were confirmed. But as PVE content dried out, PVP was the only thing to fill the void. So I got to it. I Got-Decent. Not Gud. But Decent.
During Dark Below and House of Wolves, I felt I was kind of a billy-badass. I'd win greater than 50% of the time. Good enough for me. But since TTK, my god have I fallen off a cliff. My run and gun style has become less and less effective by the day.
Even from the time TTK dropped up to he April update I'd still find enjoyment in PVP. Sure, I was reduced to about a 30% return rate on actually contributing positively to my fire team in PVP. The shotgun or sniper meta along with DoP was kicking my ass quicker than I could return said ass-kicking. But that's OK, my enjoyment was still enough to where I was still having fun.
But now, something's changed. I'm not sure what it is. I can narrow it to two scenarios:
The meta has been so prevalent for so long that more and more people have been forced to change to it to be competitive, thus a larger majority of the players have become proficient in it to deliver ass-kickings to those that don't play that way as compared to way back when, namely TDB and HoW.
Somehow I've regressed as a player, and my skill set is deterring and it's completely my fault and I should just STFU and Git Gud.
Either way, I'm not having fun anymore. The meta is too strong. Too many people are getting proficient in it. I don't want to play that way. Shoot people from across the map while hardscoping around a corner. Running straight at someone with a Party Crasher and one-shotting them as they land 5 precision shots to my dome as I'm closing the distance because Primary Weapons suck in PVP.
Please, for the love of god. Shake it up. Promote other gun use. I love fusions and sidearms. Both are outclassed by snipers and shotguns in just about every scenario if you're comparing PVP players vs. each other with comparable skills but opposing weapon use (Fusion/Sidearm vs Sniper/Shotgun). At the very least throw me a bone. Give me a place where I can get into the epic square offs against opponents I found myself in a MAJORITY of the time in the Halo games I played PVP in back when you made them. Please. I don't want to lessen others enjoyment to increase mine. Create a different playlist that focuses on Primary and subclass abilities and keeps secondary accessibility more limited. Or create a no sniper/shotgun playlist. Or buff Fusions/sidearms to be more competitive. SOMETHING.

3 通の返信If this was confined to PvP, I'd ignore the thread. But we both know that's not true, don't we? I am a PvE player primarily, and I'm sorry, when I read posts like this it comes through the filter as "I'm bored with this meta, change it up so I'm not bored". This isn't a call for balance. This isn't a call to fix something that is broken, not really. This is a call to end boredom. I get taken along for the ride, my guns get screwed up or my ammo gets taken away. I don't have a choice. I can't ignore PvP and let that world be what it will be, because that world dictates the world I choose to live in. So if I had a vote I'd say no. It's not that I don't want you to have your change, it's just I'm tired of being forced to change for capricious reasons such as this.

1 返信The problem is there aren't really any good effective ways to counter snipers. You can be blasting someone with your primary as they are hardscoping but it doesn't knock them out of the acope. Also, snipers should not be hit-scan. This make sniping very easy. There should be at least a little bit of bullet travel time. But Bungie will always expend the least amount of effort on weapon balancing along with only looking at there statistics. This means the will continue to get the balance wrong.

14 通の返信if everyone is a hardscoping corner camper very soon it will get nrefed, leaving sidearms the only competative option. People switch to side arms, guess what they get nerfed too. New meta seems to be either Mida, or DoP. With a tier 12 build supers and nades are the new heavy ammo. Warlocks seems to be immune to nerfs so thats what I would go with

They tried to bring fusions back, but shotguns are still better . And I agree ,destiny PvP is very boring now ,all I see is the same guns over and over. In HoW era I use to see legendaries in PvP and many different special weapons ,now they can't even compete ,why? because bungie nerfed exotics instead of buffing legendaries . They need to stop making things weak and maybe increase our firepower in our arsenal

Honestly, in my opinion, shotgun thorn meta was the best. Yes thorn, last word and shotty's reigned supreme but it was such a fun PvP experience. It was always fast moving and intense. Now you get teams that just camp in sniping lanes with snipers and scouts and that's all it is anymore. This meta is extremely slow moving and by far the most boring and frustrating meta this game has ever had. And not to mention fusion rifles are still crap. Half the time the shots hit and you can see the person flinch from being shot but they won't take damage. It's laughably bad.

8 通の返信Well... I can offer a little advice. Run and gun is still useful, you just gotta include something to counter the long range. That really depends on the game mode. For example: Vertigo Control Vertigo Clash In Control HMG, Scout, Shotty Shotty for those close range encounters, Scout for longrange attack/defence, HMG... cause i like 'em. From the perch you can overlook A and C. Thats scout rifle time. Shoot scope glints first. Others second. Shotty for the idiots that come through the teleporter. HMG for fun. In clash, however.... The B flag area is the strong point, and you'll usually find 3-5 people up there. That area is easy to defend, because there's only 3 approach angles. If you can control that area, and do it well, you'll win. Here i still run a Shotty, but i'll change up my primary for close encounters. (Auto/High RoF pulse) Or.... or, Universal Remote + side arm with quick draw. Push the enemy, Universal Remote someone, if they dont die, clean up with side arm. It's a good run and gun combo. Try it. If we look at the dungeons control and clash are pretty much the same. Sniper lanes on left and right, shotgun/fusion lane in the center. pick a scout/ and a shotty. scout in sniper lanes, shotty in the center. A great powerplay to start a match here..... charge through the center lane into enemy spawn, toss a firebolt into where all of the hard scoped snipers are, clean up with scout. Easy 3 piece, you're gonna get killed, but it's a strong start.

1 返信TheKungLaoにより編集済み: 5/15/2016 1:41:22 AMI've been hoping for a primary/abilities only for quite some time. I believe it would add more variety for people who want a break from the specials and curb alot the senseless nerf posts. Not to say that I want the specials to go away by no means. I thoroughly enjoy the style of play that the Crucible provides. I've never played PvP in any game as much as I have Destiny. I too was like you, Big T. When I bought Destiny, it was strictly for the PvE. I cringed at the thought of having to play PvP as part of the bounties. I just new I would be a lamb to the slaughter if I went in. But as the PvE side started to feel stale and my burning desire to aquire the Thorn reached it's apex, I ventured in. It was bad... I mean the level at which I sucked was so bad to quote R. Lee Ermey my sucktitude would have pulled a golf ball through 30 feet of garden hose. I dug my k/d into an abyssal hole. But perseverance and a whole lot of hours finally saw me pull my k/d even. I hate to hear a fellow guardian like yourself is no longer enjoying the game. When I start to feel the way you do, I switch classes and loadouts to keep things fresh. Good post, Big T.

2 通の返信Whoa, you might hurt the PvE community's feelings by saying that PvP holds the game together during a content drought...

3 通の返信The meta is what YOU make of it. Stop asking Bungie to change up things every single time you get out played. I have died so many times my asshole looks like the New England Patriots took turns going balls deep in my anus. No more changes. Either get Gud or get the -blam!- out.

Erijianにより編集済み: 5/16/2016 2:16:17 AMIf Bungie wants Destiny to be a slower-paced game in regards to time to kill, they really need to put more effort into balancing the weapons that are capable of one-shotting a Guardian and are readily available. (Specials) At this point it's really only Sniper Rifles that aren't balanced for slow TTKs; I'd be willing to listen if someone wanted to make a claim about certain Shotguns being too strong though..Like the Party Crasher +1.

8 通の返信iDovahBearにより編集済み: 5/14/2016 9:22:27 PMFor many, winning = fun. Losing = not fun, ergo frustrating. So they abuse the meta like it's the only thing that makes the game fun. But I agree, at this point only 1-shots and spam-guns are winning. The changes they made didn't change the meta. It reduced who could abuse which part of the meta. Snipers who felt comfortable before are shifting to Shotguns, because Fusions are still a big risk against Shotgunners. Especially if they have Blink or Juggernaut. I haven't had fun in Destiny PvP for awhile. Recently I'd been going Flawless. But now I'm not. Now I'm beginning to see one of three playstyles: All out aggression Shotguns, all out passive Sniping, or a mixture of it when teams run Universal Remote+Sniper or NLB+Shotgun or even just certain subclasses who can flip the switch from aggressive to passive in moments because their abilities are great for both. It's just getting kind of repetitive, and not enough playstyles are dynamic enough to compete. Most builds are pigeon-holed into one playstyle, aggressive or passive, and rely on weapons to round them off. Too many builds punish a player for making a dynamic choice to rush instead of hide or vice versa, and so few encourage and flow smoothly with the sudden transition into fight-or-flight mode. I honestly think buffing Primaries is the only obvious solution. But we'll just have to wait and see, I suppose.

66 通の返信So.. what exactly is the meta now? I dont play destiny anymore. but have been watching my friends run crucible. trials. and all other pvp modes this past week. I've seen more of a diverse use of weapons. that they get killed with this week. not just one of 3 weapons. I've watched side arms, shotguns, snipers. hand cannons. swords. machine guns, rocket launchers. auto rifles. scouts. and alot of others. So I'm rather curious. what weapon is always being used to be considered the meta now?

1 返信Play Inferno. Mostly primary fights there, with the odd sweaty douche using Universal Remote or NLB. No heavy ever and you can deny special if you play it right. Also, gun diversity is huge there as mostly any respectably rolled primary will do, if you know how to use it.
