1 返信People say there is a past, a present, and a future. This is false. There is a past, as it is the present that already happened. There is no future, as we can only ever live in the present. But if there is no future, how is it we can continue to have the present?

If you go back in time, to the moment before you go back in time, then kill yourself what happens? If you kill yourself, then you can't go back in time. But if you don't go back in time, you can't kill yourself.

6 通の返信Let's say I have a large pile of sand. Now, I remove a single grain of sand from the pile. I ask, "Is this still a pile?" Assuming you say yes, I'll continue to remove a single grain of sand and ask that question until only one grain remains. "Is this still a pile?" If it's not, then how many grains must be present to define the collection of said grains as a pile? What's a pile?

13 通の返信haywireにより編集済み: 5/6/2016 5:18:12 PMAlright this isn't too much of a paradox but an interesting theory of mine So, we reasonably know the big bang occured from a single particle. But we don't know how that single particle got there. Discounting supernatural methods, there must be an explanation. So, assuming a Newtonian universe, where all mass comes from a central point and gets more and more dispersed away from that single point, that central point must be vast enough to hold the entirety of the universe in place. As such, it must be big enough to hold the out most edges of the universe, so it is necessarily so large that it is slightly pulling in those bodies closest to it. As it absorbs these bodies, it grows larger, and exerts a slightly stronger force. So, eventually, it will keep growing and growing, until it's central mass is greater than the combined mass of the universe. So, it begins to speed up its pull exponentially, as those remaining bodies are from the outer universe and as such are less heavy. At one point, this pull will have to cause these bodies to move past the speed of light, and eventually due to relativity at the speed of light squared just at the last few microscopic bodies. Now, our assumption is that it is at this point that time travel occurs, because particles are fast enough they move through the fourth dimension which we incorrectly perceive as time. (But that's a whole different discussion). So, the final, microscopic particle of the universe travels back in time, and, by paradox of Doubles and such, is forced to travel to the point just before it existed ie at the moment of the Big Bang. Now, we know reasonably that this particle is not the same one that caused the big bang as we know it, because that particle became the center of its universe, and this was the outermost particle in that universe. Now, as it is in 2 "places" at once,at the speeds that it is, it begins to release energy around it, speeding those particles around it to travel back to the same point. It expends energy, but is also replenished by the exponential energy that would be released to allow time travel in such quantities, and as such, eventually spreads further and further out in the past, because it is all extremely charged and so repels other particles away. The particles are moved in increasing order of depth, as it is easier to spread energy to particles not surrounded by a system. Thus, the last particle to come through is the central one and the one which spreads the farthest, as it has the most energy from the billions of reactions around it. The big bang looks like a wave which reaches out, begins to curl back inwards due to the beginnings of gravity, and then another wave of later, but more energized particles overtakes it, creating a chain. So, the universe is constructed nearly backwards as compared to its old form, which means that the next time this occurs, it will once again become forwards. Anyways, that's my somewhat confusing theory. Edit: Text Walls
