A cabal raid would make no sense

Edit: this is trending and now contains a lot of fun discussion about cabal lore and future raid (you know it's coming, don't be ridiculous). Feel free to join in. The cabal ran off like scared kittens because Oryx showed up. We killed him, proving we are even stronger than Oryx, so why in the hell would they come back? I can see it now. [Cutscene 1, Destiny DLC #4 titled "Cabals to the Wall, Man". Interior: Cabal imperial cruiser, luxurious chambers. Emperor Valuke Smi'ith sits on a golden throne throwing silver at a screen when one of his generals enter] "Sooooo Emperor sir. You remember that hideous Hive beast Oryx that was so powerful we had to cut our losses and abandon our conquest in that little shithole of a solar system? Turns out he's dead!" "Excellent news Val Tra'acksuit. How did he meet his demise? Did he come across those invincible blind thrall on the balcony perhaps?" "Negative, Emperor sir. Apparently the guardians that huddle in the tower on earth became so powerful through the knowledge Oryx kept close that they managed to destroy him. In fact, they took a piece of the god that dwelled within him and made A GUN out of it. A particularly nasty piece of work if my intel is correct sir." "Well then, with Oryx gone, there is nothing stopping our conquest anymore. You tell our boys to turn back and resume the fighting." "But Emperor sir, these guardians, surely they pose an even bigger threat than Oryx himself, to have bested him and even the god he served?" "Preposterous! This makes perfect sense because of ambiguous reasons hidden in the grimoire cards." "Emperor, please! We will all die!" "Lol y u mad bro? Let's go!" [End scene]

I always figured they would have been up to something bigger. Since both the Cabal and the Vex are on Mars I thought that perhaps the Cabals end game had to do with the Vex and their time travel bringing us full circle with the return of the Stranger who I believe could be a time traveler. Play out the whole become destiny thing because from the Strangers perspective this is all history. Wishful thinking I guess.

  • "The cabal ran from oryx" The Skyburners literally flew a fûcking warship into the Dreadnaught. They made it past that super blowy uppy weapon of death. The cabal ain't scared of shït.

    • but as eris says "we defeated oryx but not killed" sooo i think that dumbass is still alive (and following at the storyline even that smartass of crota should be still alive cuz we only beat the dream of crota). thts why id like to see a final raid before destiny II with cabals emperor against oryx located where the real crota still awaits us and guardians called to put an end at all this shit. -btw nice idea xD

          • Our whole continued war with the Cabal makes very little sense. It's only a stupid game mechanic to allow us to have three types of enemies on the Dreadnought rather than two. Consider that we sent a Guardian on a near-suicide mission to put a beachhead on the Dreadnought to find and kill Oryx. The Cabal sent a ship on a kamikaze mission to do the exact same thing. So what do we and the Cabal do afterward? A. Agree that Oryx and the Taken are a threat to everybody. Forge an alliance between our peoples to find and destroy Oryx and eradicate his minions. B. Agree that we both face bigger problems. Establish a temporary cease-fire while we address this issue. C. Keep right on shooting at each other, making us easier for the Hive and Taken to pick off. Smart option: A. Tolerable option: B. Insanely stupid option: C. The option we choose: C. As Dark Helmet reminds us in "Spaceballs", evil will always win because good is dumb.

Op's post shows u played the game to play. In the level the enemy of my enemy the cabal are transmiting a distress call to the highest level cabal force in the universe to help fight the ttk. So when they show up and see the ttk was killed by use, then we become the threat. So... use ur head to fill in the rest. A cabal raid would totally work.
The cabal ran off like scared kittens because Oryx showed up.
Uh, if I recall correctly, they intentionally kamikazed their ship in the Dreadnaught just to find and kill Oryx. The attack on Phobos was essentially an ambush; they weren't prepared hence them running away. I imagine most in game races, including the peeps in the tower, would react similarly when subjected to such an attack. Hell, the Vex needed our help! With all this said, yes, it makes perfect sense that there would be a Cabal raid.

                    • When did the Cabal turn tail and run? Last I checked, they sent a distress signal out to the empire. Shortly after, we killed off the last of their command that were here in the solar system. Hell, they rammed a ship into the Dreadnaught. That doesn't sound like running away to me.

                      • Val'us As'sholus is the emperor. I already know how to beat him. First pull out your year 3 g horn and unload on him until he retreats. Then 1000 mini cabal will come with blast shields that can blow you off the platform to your doom. You must use the bowels of as'sholus (raid auto rifle) to disable their shields or end up wiping, then do damage until they are dead. Afterward, Val'us will appear in the center of the stage with a light shield (new element introduced in year 3) that must be depleted in 10 seconds or he will use BLOW which will explode the ship and wipe the party. After taking his shield, pull out your touch of love scout rifle and give him headshots that restore your health since he dispenses poison gas while his shield is down. Afterwards he traps one random player in a detain shield that must be destroyed with an elemental weapon or they will die. Then As'sholus will pull out a lightsaber axe and begin going berserk around the stage. You have to dodge while shooting his axe until it falls to the ground. Then someone has to pick up the axe and hit him with it which will trigger his BLOW attack. Enough crotch shots and he will cease the attack. (Firebreaker snipers work best) For his last attack sequence he will summon 6 golden phalanxes which can't take damage. The way to eliminate them is when they start glowing. One will glow at a time and the team must destroy him before his glow fades which will wipe the party. After that As'sholus will start destroying the platform until it is gone. You must do insane damage to fight him. If you have an upgraded G horn or Scrota of Crota it will be easier. Afterwards he orders to detonate the ship and you must race the explosion or end up wiping. The raid ends and you jump from the raid ship and suddenly land atop the party leaders ship driven by Cayde-6. He then takes you to Uranus to a weapons vault where you get your final raid piece. He then sends you to orbit because he says that having to hold a button to go back is "kinda dumb."

                      • What about a fallen themed raid? Everyone dreamed about it before Bungie announced no raid for HoW,imagining a super high and big fallen badass as hell and whatever mechanics to kill him...so why not? I know Elinski don't seem to be that really strong and dangerous, but enemies like Skolas were just little kells, nothing but simple casual leaders (skolas didn't last free for that long and he just got trapped again by the guardians). But just reading the Dreg's promise grimoire card made me think that there might be Kells that are thought to be only legends for how strong and wise they were, with ten thousand arms or even more...

                        • As far as we know cabal sent out a signal That we didn't stop They could come here in bigger numbers They are warriors They will fight be for retreat They could come for a full blown evasion like we have never seen before But reason of the talk of the cabal raid or dlc. Is because if the image we got of the dlc time line a wile ago be for last expansion it was called Comet we knew it would be big. But it marked the dark below the house of wolves the comet. And a cabal and a vex We have bit gotten really into a lot of the cabal so as far as we know they could have sent a signal for a full fledge invasion and there mother ship is coming and we will have to fight there leader in the raid in there mother ship

                          • I think there is a good possibility of a cabal raid or at least one from the result of the ttk expansion. Here is my explanation why The skyburners that we have faced on the dreadnaught were scouts looking and investigating the taken. Scouts have always been the tip of the army forces meant to relay how strong the enemy is. The fact that they issued a distress beacon means that according to their protocols they had plans for a rescue if things went bad. Which also means that the forces they send are going to be alot stronger. Plus anyone or anything else could have picked up that distress signal so who knows who could be coming that could possibly be raid worthy.

                          • They feared Oryx because he could 'take' his enemies from anywhere at any time. He was essentially omnipotent. Guardians are not even close to that. We have to show up to wreck things. Far less risky for a group like the Cabal. They know we have to kill everything between us and them to kill their leadership. Given the size of their forces vs a faction like the Fallen, I'd say that will be an interesting raid and that I better kill at least 1000 Cabal per run.
