This is 2016. There are plenty of less ambitious games that give players the option to not join games that have already started. Joining in progress typically sucks no matter what game you're playing. Usually, you're already on the losing team, and those come-from-behind victories are rare. This problem is made worse in Destiny by the heavy spawns and the supers. Bottom line: Destiny is a game. Games are suppose to be fun. Joining a game when you're already down by 10,000 points is not fun.
