Iv been wondering that too. I have all 50 now but it doesnt seem to be related to difficulty or anything. Maybe its related to the amount/ importance of the lore involved? For example a white may have no real story significance whereas an exotic does...?

I was thinking that also. It seems like all the white cards are more "obscure" or less important back story. Whereas, the purple and yellow cards are more directly related to the part of the story we are involved with.
