Wait a minute, is destiny some sort of sequel to halo? Ecumene theory. Just some thoughts, probably wrong but could be cool. Salt free zone

>< Tl;dr: A species known as the Ecumene are mention in both halo and destiny, that are drescribed in a vaguely similar fashion. They were wiped out by similar species, the hive and the flood. I believe that destiny is far in the future from halo, after mankind has somewhat faded out, because of a lot undeniable conenctions/coincidences, whatever you choose to believe. >< No hate here please, if you think im wrong you dont need to be a bïtch about it :) >< So i was watching a lore video by Halo Follower discussing different enemy forces when i heard a familiar name memtion, the Ecumene. In halo, this is the formal name for the forunners, a highely advanced space-faring species whos capabilities were far superior to all other species, till they were nearly wiped out by a precursors. I recognized this name from the book of sorrows, but couldn't quite remember who they were, so naturally I googled. As stated by Destinypedia, the Ecumene were a highly advanced interstellar government, but they were destroyed by Oryx's armies. In halo, they were killed by the flood(the forerunners were created by the precursors, which turned into the flood, and the forerunners were mainly wiped out by the last remaining precursor. So they were indirectly killed by the flood, in a way), which are very similar to the hive. Coincidence? I think not. Forerunners in halo supposedly could do crazy shìt like create suns, and blackholes, and even the Halo rings. Their crazy abilities could be the reason they are described as a government in destiny, because they create the laws of nature. All of this makes me believe that destiny may be far in the future after halo. Other connenctions lay in the similarities in races in destiny, such as promethians vs l. the vex, covenent vs. the fallen, cabal vs. the brutes, and hive vs. the flood, and as I've said, the ecumene that are mention in both games. I think destiny is set in a period of time far after halo took place, which is described as "the golden age." One last though I've had is that the vanguard could be a simplified, poor mans UNSC. Anyone else have thoughts about this?

  • It would seem that the universe has been wiped clean several times in halo by the halo devices. Could it be that the events of destiny took place even before the reset into the halo universe. Like a Prequel. Think about it. In halo lore, humans had become very technologically advanced and had seeded several worlds in their solar system. The Precursors were going to pass on their legacy to the humans, but the Forerunners (or Ecumene) grew jealous and actually killed the Precursors to the brink of extinction. Could the events of Destiny be leading up to humans eventually meeting these ancient races? I think that would make sense. If all of this is the story humanity prior to the activation of the Halo rings. Let me know your thoughts

Yup, keep hunting for the tru7h. Halo, Marathon, Destiny, Myth, they're all connected. Halo and Destiny are almost certainly not in the same universe, not exactly anyway. If they are, then the universe goes through cycles of creation and collapse, and they take place hundreds of thousands or millions of years apart, but even that I doubt. Its much more likely that they are different timelines, diverging from the big bang, where the "timeless creatures in primordial space" made waves. I could go on for hours listing connections between Halo, Marathon, and Destiny, and the thing is the connections are all clustered and form patterns, between universes. Even Halo 5 introduces roughly four or five pieces of connective tissue between Cortana and Durandal, of which plenty already existed, and it also introduced about four or five pieces of shared similarity between the Prometheans / Warden Eternal and the Vex. Rasputin appears to claim he is Durandal or Thoths cousin. Melissa from Ilovebees claimed to be related to a mysterious character in Marathon called "Gherrit White", Ilovebees was in canon purgatory, but 343 has essentially made it canon now. The Security Officer in Marathon appears to be an immortal hero god who is reincarnated throughout history, ten years ago one of two Bungie confounders claimed that the Security Officer and Master Chief were incarnations of the same character, subsequent evidence suggests Master Chief is a reincarnation of a Forerunner, the Iso-Didact, and finally Rasputin 4 suggests the mysterious stranger is a incarnation of the same character as the Security Officer. The Security Officer describes himself in a dream in Marathon: Infinity as being lucky, and he is described by Durandal as having a "knack for defying the odds", a few times but specifically when he defies Durandals prediction that the chances of him surviving a specific scenario was extremely, extremely low. TYet he survived impossible odds, because he had luck....

I don't want to shut you down, but the creating of lore based on theory and things like concept art needs to end. There is very little story to destiny, and the background is presented in a confusing way as to have people debate opinion and interpretation as fact. I'm not trying to offend you, please understand, but you're connecting lines that don't exists. And it makes sense for them to reuse an old story because it's easier. Now on to to the logical. The unsc did not exist in the golden age, and the evidence is in the cosmodrome. If you look around, you'll find rusted out vehicles. None of these vehicles match up with any unsc vehicles. In fact, they appear modern to our time. The tanks are made to appear of Russian design, the ships are what is expected of modern shipping barges and possibly some fishing boats if I recall. However, the biggest give away is the aircraft. In the moth yards, you'll see the giant tail section of a large Russian cargo jet. An An-225, because the Russians insist on building a bigger version of every successful US aircraft (I'm looking at you Mig-31 and Mil Mi-26). None of these are ever used by the unsc. Now, before you say that maybe those things were left in the bone yards to die in silence while the covenant were attacking, remember that humanity was at war and struggling to stay in it. All available resources were being used to feed the defense of Earth and to mount attacks elsewhere. The dying machines in the cosmodrome's bone yards would have scraped and put to use if they hadn't been already. The architecture doesn't match up between destiny and halo either. An area of peaceful exploration would not be built in a time of war that requires the resources. The golden age was a time of peace and exploration. And while exploring may have been involved in the war with the covenant, it definetly wasn't peaceful.

    • While Bungie has inserted multiple easter eggs into Destiny (Ecumene, Master Chief in cryo, etc.), the games are in completely separate universes
