To all my fellow Xbox Guardians.
This December Microsoft will be introducing the Xbox One Elite.
And if you're in the market for a "next gen" console, this is the cream of the crop.
Not only does the Xbox 1 Elite come with the Elite controller, but the real gem is a 1 TB SSD hybrid hard drive. (Too bad Microsoft didn't introduce this at launch because the PS 4 wouldn't stand a chance).
This is an amazing deal for 499. SSD's are light years ahead of and better than traditional HDD's because the SSD's have no moving parts and data retrieval is nearly instantaneous.
Good stuff Microsoft.
Edit: The intent of this post was not to start a "console war" so my bad with the title.
I'm just impressed with Microsoft's decision to sell the Elite at 499 including both the controller and an SSDHD. there can't be much of a profit made for selling it at this price point.

Lol so didn't try to start a console war and it's funny, that's the main reason you created this thread, shame on you kid I'm also on Xbox1 and there's no -blam!-ing way I'm buying an unnecessarily overpriced controller but since some people actually buy literal shit so I guess they will buy this controller

3 通の返信I'm not saying this isn't impressive, because it is. But Microsoft -blam!-ed up way bigger then just because of the console itself. I mean hell, the lead of Xbox literally a week or two ago said himself that he doesn't think they can beat Sony anymore.

If it's a hybrid drive, it is no where near the performance of a true ssd. It will probably have an 8gb nand for caching. Doesn't make a huge difference. But 1tb of storage is nice. A 1tb ssd would cost roughly close to the entire console. Not happening.

Hmm, the SSHD in my PS4 seems to disagree with your fanboyism. See a SSHD is a solid state drive backed by a HDD. So you get the speed plus the storage space of a regular platter hard drive. Mine is 2TB. In addition to the fact that PS4 users can swap to any drive thru want at-will I want to point out that only certain aspects of gaming on a console get a noticeable boost from using a SSD.

The games still use a spinning hard drive to store and play games from what I read. I'm not finding any super big benefit from this combo from the limited research I've done. I slapped a 2TB USB drive on my Xbox already. /shrug

But you are wrong about MS beating Sony with this, even if they released it at launch. The fact that Sony is ahead of MS in sales is not even due to the consoles themselfs, its because of MS's stupidity that they are now behind Sony. First they focused too much on TV and Kinect. Then they stated that all gamers are thiefs and used games are illegal, both are ofcourse wrong. Then they thought it was a great idea to delay the release by a year in a lot of countries, and thus giving Sony a huge advantage in those regions. And finaly they said -blam!- you to day one buyers who paid 100$ more because of a paperweight that came with the One. Not hating on the One itself, its a good console, but MS -blam!-ed it up and are now trying to repair the damages, and they seem somewhat succesfull, but are still behind Sony.

2 通の返信Hybrid means it's a HDD with a solid state cache attached to it. They cache the most frequently used files to load about 3 seconds faster then a HDD. The controller is horrendous on XB1 and costs far to much for the elite and anyone here with a ps4 can put a 1 or 2 TB hybrid drive in the console for $80 or so.

I'm an XBoner, but Sony shouldn't worry much; Microsoft did such a bad job with the XB1 launch that although it overcame, its not going to actually catch up. Halo will help tremendously - another reason why I'll support it; the big difference is in corporate performance - Microsoft can afford for the Xbox to "not be number one," but with Sony, the PlayStation is one of the only business units really doing well, so its crucial to the company's health.

4 通の返信Did you know a 1TB SSHD Is only worth 10-20 bucks more than a regular HDD? That said, $500 is overpriced, you are better off upgrading your drive to SSHD yourself. Lastly, speed/load comparisons have shown that HDD's, SSHD's, and SSD's perform similar on game consoles, with only small improvements each step up. A PC is where SSHD's and especially SSD's shine, not a game console.
