To all my fellow Xbox Guardians.
This December Microsoft will be introducing the Xbox One Elite.
And if you're in the market for a "next gen" console, this is the cream of the crop.
Not only does the Xbox 1 Elite come with the Elite controller, but the real gem is a 1 TB SSD hybrid hard drive. (Too bad Microsoft didn't introduce this at launch because the PS 4 wouldn't stand a chance).
This is an amazing deal for 499. SSD's are light years ahead of and better than traditional HDD's because the SSD's have no moving parts and data retrieval is nearly instantaneous.
Good stuff Microsoft.
Edit: The intent of this post was not to start a "console war" so my bad with the title.
I'm just impressed with Microsoft's decision to sell the Elite at 499 including both the controller and an SSDHD. there can't be much of a profit made for selling it at this price point.

Not like it even matters. Developers aren't going to waste time and money developing AAA games just for one console that has slightly more processing power than it's predecessor. Do you expect everyone just to abandon their current Xbox One? Because I don't.

I looked into buying an ssd drive for my ps4. After seeing very very negligible load spied improvement in tests on both systems I decide it wasn't worth it. Shaving a couple of seconds off load time?l isn't a big deal for me. Hybrid Plus, as others have said, it's a hybrid drive that might provide very negligible (barely even noticeable improvements) and can be bought for a few dollars more than the one of the same speed already installed in both next gen systems. Nice try with the title, but more research needed for you methinks.

2 通の返信lol it's not an ssd though. It's a hybrid drive, which means it's a normal 5400rpm hdd, but it has an 8gb ssd partition for cache. A hybrid drive is only $15 more than a normal 5400 rpm hdd.

I honestly don't care. I care even less about the hard drive since all the games are downloaded in my external hard drive. Also, if Microsoft had introduced that hybrid hard drive for the Xbox One's launch, it would probably have been more than $500. 'Cause, you know, the f***ing kinect was still an issue for the price tag. As for the controller, I'm happy with what I have. The extra buttons on the back are not even "extra". If it's anything like what the 360 had, is just extra space to paste your existing buttons on. You'll basically have two RS buttons, two A buttons, two B buttons, etc. It would be something else if they are extra keys that will give you additional features, similar to what the Dualshock 4's touchpad COULD have given you, (they don't utilize it as much as they should for their exclusives) but as it stands, it's nothing special. It's not worth the $150.

PCs always had better specs than even the newest of consoles, and will still be much better than the xbone elite. If you really give a shit about performance, you have a PC. If you have a console (like me), you don't give a shit about performance (like me). No one gets a console for its specs/performance lmao NO ONE CARES People get consoles for convenience, idk why marketing teams try to brag about performance of consoles...

Except, that, really an SSD doesnt improve gameplay or graphics, just load times. In which ps4 is still better, and unlike Xbox I can install a real SSD or what ever I want and without replacing my ps4. Also its not some hybrid that probably has only an 8 gig ssd like cache that if I downloaded a game over that its gonna slow down alot.

The guts are the same. That's all that matters to me. Last gen 360 had superior hardware that was supported better by 3rd party developers. This gen Sony has better hardware and 3rd party support, so I went with sony. Why do so many stick with a brand, rather than buy the better product? Most won't do it with tvs, computer parts, cars... but it's such a big deal with consoles? I just don't get it. On topic, a controller and hard drive won't sell more xboxs. Especially when Sony will reduce price, and elite will cost more.

9 通の返信Don't really care since I have both consoles. I just hate the fact that you have to carry a power brick for the Xbone.

2 通の返信SSHD AND SSD's are different my friend... SSD are super expensive and extremely efficient. SSHDs intelligently learn which applications you use most, and try to store those in the solid-state storage for faster loading times and better overall performance. An SSHD will also make it cold boot faster. However traditionally they only have about 8gb of SSD Room on a 1Tb SsHD. So for gaming applications it will not change. It will make the overall app and home menu performance much better.
