Because that is the light level recommended by the game... Can you do it lower? Sure, I guess. But why should anyone want to carry you?
Asking for 290+ is not "elitism." It's asking for players that meet the minimum requirements of the raid, as per the developer's recommendation.

No. Can you read? It means it's not anyone's responsibility to carry under-leveled people through the raid. It is the minimum recommended light. We didn't set the requirements. Bungie did. It also means you will be doing less damage against bosses and adds, so why should anyone be obligated to bring an anchor on the raid? And try 305, with limited playtime (wife and a life, you know the drill). It is NOT hard to get to 290.

It has nothing to do with anyone being better than anyone. If you're 280 you're simply ineffective due to game design of your light level vs enemy levels. It has nothing to do with elitism or anything of that nature. It is simply a matter of ensuring everyone on the fireteam can do the normal amount of damage they supposed to do. Nobody on LFG is going to want to carry a stranger who is doing little to no damage regardless of how long they can stay alive so stop arguing the point.
So if I was at light 285 and your 295 that means your better than me cos you had better drops? Only as an example haven't checked your light
Go farm rare engrams to get 290+ like everyone else or make good friends that want to carry you.
295 should be doing a lot more damage than a 285 if both players do the exact same thing.

True but the point I'm making is that you can't pick people based on light level Cos if I'm 280 and someone is 300 dies I will be doing more damage than him plus making me more important
Trust me if the 300 plays for 1 minute and dies, you have to play for the 1 minute plus just to make up the damage difference. Now if the 300 is bad, then I would kick the 300 and get a new 300 because why would I bring a 280 even though they are good, they have to be prepared to take more damage. How much more damage? 280 will be one shotted from a Centurions.
Go farm rare engrams or make friends and stop mooching off of strangers that are too busy to be spending time trying to do a 6 man raid without 6. People done it with 4, who gives a flying -blam!- doesn't mean I want to do it with four you piece of shit. Get off the forums and start grinding like the rest of us!
