The thing is once you understand the mechanics it's just a numbers game and the mechanics are really straightforward.

Nothing wrong with any reqs. Find the group you are ready for. Don't expect others to carry you. So many people wanting to be carried by people that have put 20+ hours into learning the raid. How is that fun. If you are new to it play it with people and have fun as a team figuring it out. It's a pretty easy raid it just takes practice.

My first night on the raid we had players ranging from 291 - 301 the higher level experienced player calmly talked the group through each and every stage as we approached them. We each took one trial run and finished on our second attempt at each stage. We paused for the night at the sisters. Next day my friend and I indulged and slept fairly late so missed out on finishing the raid with the 4 players from the previous night. We then spent 2+ hours lfging and whiping with over 30 different randoms on the sisters cp. Later we decided to join a team of 4 at totems. With that group we managed to complete the entire raid in just shy of two and a half hours. My point being that solid players will be solid regardless of their light levels. Experienced raiders can learn mechanics quickly and normally execute proficiently. Lower leveled players can play more mechanic based roles and leave dps sections to the higher leveled raiders. Everyone has a place with the right team composition.

I've only done it 4 times and think it's a piece of piss. Some people really struggle though so I try to take the more important roles like gazing and running the auras/brands. People can learn from watching, well I hope they do

My first raid for oryx was last week since my Xbox was in for repair for a month. I took my top 6 spot back in my group when I got back (and I feel bad that I replaced my replacement but oh well) and last week we beat it in maybe 5 wipes total, if that. This week we did it in almost no wipes on 3 characters and got them all done in a little over an hour each. As long as you have good, competent, and willing to listen and cooperate teammates you can easily crush this raid. We 5 manned the raid on the third run this week also. Either the "bad people" were unwilling to cooperate or they weren't told what to do well enough. The only way people will learn is if they're taught well.

I joined a group at Oryx, they had a 263 they were carrying through. Ok whatever I guess give it a shot. He took the right platform closest to the entrance I took left. Ok. Literally as soon as we'd jumped on the platforms, before the ogres even spawned I had some little squeaker screaming down his Mic at me to kill his ogre for him, apparently oblivious to the fact that mine spawned first and also needed to die. I lasted 2 wipes, on the 3rd I just though forget this and left, got a load of hate mail that I sucked. It was at this point I promised myself never to play with squeakers again.

I'll be honest, YouTube videos give you the gist of things; but they aren't really going to help you all that much. You really have to just do it and see how the mechanics work for yourself, after you get a grasp on how each boss works it's all really simple. Biggest hurdles for the raid are jumping (my weak spot, I hate this games platforming mechanics) and DPS; everything else is just a matter of paying attention and communicating.

once you get the mechanics down this raid becomes real easy, like seriously easy like a strike. but you're right, there is a very big skillgap for this raid because bungie isnt messing around this time, they created hard mode first and then stripped that down to the point of normal mode that we know. just a couple of days ago i was in a LFG group of just people that had finished the raid, they all had the emblem so i thought it would be an easy run, i couldnt have been more wrong, the funny part was that 3 of the 6 had absolutely no idea how to do daugthers, and it just baffled me, this one guy literally asked why his charackter was "black" when he was the guy torn between dimensions, i immidiately left and found a new group, wich also consisted of people that had never done daughters before but beat oryx, i mean Daughters is is so incredibly easy compared to the oryx fight, no idea how they beat oryx but they did, this other guy thought the way to detonate the corrupted light was shooting it instead of standing inside of it, he did not mention it at all until the 3rd time his corrupted light didnt go off and he was genuinely wondering why it wasnt working for him, he actually said something along the lines of, "Guys, im switching to a shotgun because i keep shooting the orb but it wont detonate.", i had never facepalmed that hard in my life on that day, he ahd actually beaten oryx yet had no idea how to deal damage, he died every single damage period too trying to shoot his orb lmfao. yet somehow we managed to carry his sorry ass through 6 oryx phases, final stagger was at "enrage is near" im not making this up and it basically sums up the problem, that most people have absolutely no idea whats going on, they just go on LFG and lie through their teeth hoping that they get assigned AD duty, lmfao, now this problem will go further into pvp where level/light advantages will be enabled, people have to do and complete this raid a lot in order to get their gear high enough to not be rekt by good teams, in a new matchmaking system for trials where you find yourself matching increasingly skilled players the amount wins you get, if you have 1 win itll search for teams with 1 win, if you have 8 wins etc. Thorn is no longer a requirement, 305+ raidgear is now

I've found that most people are so worried about being the guy who dies first that they spend more time in cover then shooting people. They just hope no one noticed and can carry them

I ran the raid Sunday morning with a group off lfg. We beat it in about 2.5 hours. It was a great team to work with. Then I tried it again with my titan. 6 hours later, no victory. A lot of people came and went and it was difficult to keep telling people over and over what to do. And yes some would forget or didn't know or just couldn't kill the ogres. It was frustrating but I will try to get an oryx check point going tonight. All it takes is one mistake and it is done. Rinse and repeat but something stupid always happened. Keep trying. As people learn it will become easier but it is a lot of time to invest.
