Before they felt very strong, but there were moments when I'd still favor a sniper rifle. They felt like the strongest weapon in CQB, and most people thought that was reasonable, but recently, they got hit with a 45% reduction against AI.
IMO, this ruined high impact, low rate of fire shotguns. They ( Felwinter's ) do not one shot a level 32 tier one knight, to the head, at melee range as a Titan. That is.. I don't have words. The only way to quickly dispatch enemies is to get up and close with a medium impact shotgun, with full auto. That's your best bet now. I feel like they need a decent 25% buff to AI or fusion rifles need a strong buff in PvE. There is still no reason to use one.
Opinions? I know we all got one.

Had to run skolas twice this week to help clan mates out with their moments of triumph and without that shotgun buff, it was very difficult to counter overleveled shrapnel and sword majors. Hopefully bungie won't throw artificial difficulty into TTK's raid by having it be 5 light levels above the possible guardian level.

They were pretty op pre 2.0 and if you don't think so you obviously didn't have or use found verdict. Found verdict literally destroyed in PoE and basically any other form of pve. They are still a good option in pve they just don't have their crazy damage anymore. Majors and ultras shouldn't be as easy to kill as normal enemies and that's exactly what shotguns did pre 2.0, make majors and ultras look like pussies.

Pvp: now stronger then ever with the way the maps are and current weapon balance of lack there of. Pve: basically not work the danger of being up close and personal with any higher tier enemy. For example: remember the sword captains on the omnigul weekly strike? We used to be able to two shot them with found verdict, now they take a 7-8 shots. My point is.... Pve nerf, pvp buff.

There is no difference in shotguns, i really dont think they changed anything regardless of what the patch notes said. Thorn sucks now (who cares) and messenger is so op it makes my colon hurt. Auto rifles are still garbage in pvp and can hardly outgun anyone cause theyre all using pulse rifles or shotguns which have wayyyyy faster TTK than waiting to unload a full clip from an auto rifle for a kill. Oh well, shotguns all day for at least another 2 quarters cause they only wanna fix stuff twice a year. Games still fun though. Loving Necro in PVE

Liefglindeにより編集済み: 9/14/2015 8:26:57 PMThey're awful in PvE. The "45%" nerf they got applied to the overall damage, not the 100% buff from the last patch. They're currently only doing 10% more damage than when the game came out. There's no reason to use a shotgun over a sniper now.

i never used shotguns before they were given a buff in PVE then i used them. they felt right for a shotgun, close range and very powerful with high damage fall off. like you there were times snipers were clearly the better choice and i am a sniper person myself so i used them more often but still felt like i could use a shotgun if necessary. now i can't do that. it takes so much ammo at close to kissing range just to down a yellow bar knight. i now am forced to stay far and away with a sniper to even do any kind of damage. i don't play enough PVP to have a valid opinion there.

1 返信They needed to be put back in line to give fusions a place to shine, but they got hit too hard. Now taking the risk is not worth the reward. I can do the same damage from sitting further back and using a fusion. They need like a 25% damage boost to put them back in the place they should be.

2 通の返信After the original buff, shotguns went from virtually unused in PvE to a viable option for close quarters combat capable of taking out most majors before they could beat you into the ground. The 45% reduction effectively nullified that buff, and as such shotguns are back to being near pointless in PvE. Their effectiveness in PvP has remained relatively steady since the initial range nerf, however. Shotguns are basically back where they started: useful in the crucible, but otherwise pointless outside of a few minor situations (such as being In a detention bubble).

1 返信I dunno. I need to see what the damage is like once people start getting top end light levels using max attack weapons vs higher level enemies. Remember the game calculates damage output differently now, and we're all only around 165-170 light.
