Are you saying that the only way something has value is if you keep it forever? That's like getting to college and saying high school was a waste of time when high school is what got you there in the first place

The analogy is false, you upgrade your high school diploma to a college degree. Here, it'd be like saying, ok you went to high school, but this other guy who didn't also turned 18, and now you can both go to college and get the same education and advantages for college. Oh, and the guy who didn't go to high school gets to pay about 60% less for college.

No actually he's right. It is the dumbest analogy. See, going to college is an activity. Not an object. Part of his point and our problem, is that bungie expects us to go through college over and over and over again by grinding the same activities on and on and on on order to acquire and upgrade new gear because they won't let us keep the old one. Taking stuff away is the only way they could think of to keep us grinding enough hours. Which does not bode well for the future of this game. Hopefully now you can see how dumb your analogy really was.

I'm a high school dropout, but I have a masters degree in International Relations, so the analogy isn't universally applicable. For me, renegade music was what inspired me to read the likes of Chomsky, Parenti, and Zinn, and a DUI inspired me to go to college. I'm trying to say, that this analogy is great because it applies to some of the community, but the community is split on how it feels about this subject.
